Playing with a 940 BE, not a real stellar example so figured I'd ice my water. Sensor on the cold side was showing 11.5c and the cpu won't make BIOS so dropped a probe down the outlet side of the res and water was at 9c. CPU posted once the probes temp got to 12c but didn't actually work right till around 13c. I thought you had to be a little colder to get cold bugged.

Phenom II doesn't cold bug really. I'd lay money on the board has CBB issues.

Strange I wouldnt expect the board to have issues with 9c either. The CPU is a Deneb it should go Nitrogen cold just fine.

geez ales i dunno what to say there, the coldest ive had my ice water has been -4c but thats been with a methylated spirits mix in it with the ice and water, normally it runs around the 3-4c mark on just plain ice water with the probes reading and ive never had a cold bug issue with any cpu or board ive had with either of those temps but im guessing the actual cpu temp would be about another 8c about the water temp at idle, i run another probe right side of the ihs plate, and if the cpu is delidded the probe is right next to the chip itself, and it usually reads about the 8 c above water temp, of course more under load

DFI 790, have had the board in the garage with a 10c ambient without problems as memory serves, thought it was a little strange.

ales b4 my DFI 709 FXB-M2RSH died i never had any issues with cold temps with any cpu, this is a strange issue you have

Is kinda strange, do know the cpu temp in BIOS was single digits with a 20c +/- ambient always check looking for a possible bad block mount.

Do you have this problem when you run the 5600+ in it? If not I wouldnt worry about it too much as I am sure you have got better boards for the 940be such as any 890FX board would be a much better option.
I have just got a M2RSH myself and I have been playing around with it for a few days trying different Bioses off the Tmod disk and the thing dont really go any better than my Gigabyte 790X-UD4P or Asus M3A32-MVP that I had it cant clock my memory or 6400+ any better than the Gigabyte. It has got one thing that should help over the Gigabyte when cold though the CPUNB voltage goes to 1.5v the Gigabyte only goes to 1.4v And what were the DFI engineers thinking when they designed it all the other vendors good 790 boards have got 8+2 CPU power its got 4+1.
In my opinion they are average nothing special. The UltraD was streets ahead of the competition but with these later DFI' boards the competition had caught up. The same goes for the X48 DFI board that Shane had it was nothing special either.

First time every with anything not really worried just thought it was odd. Do know the M2RSH that I have sucks with AM2+ cpus or all are just real bad examples so far. Have a M4A79 DDR2 board but as stated in another thread kinda of jack of all trades master of none, although haven't tried a AM2+.

It went good Shane there was nothing real special about it though. Put it this way I am not looking out for one and dont have any desire to own one there are better options out there. The same goes for this M2RSH I wouldnt buy another unless it was a real steal there are cheaper options out there that will do as good. The UltraD being the best 939 board bar none gave DFI cult status. I honestly cant say its the same for their later boards.

I picked up the M4A for team cup and updated to one of the latest BIOSs hoping it would work will with a Phenom 6 core. Tried two CPUs, 1065T & 5200 Brisbane, gave up 8.42% with the 1065T and 9.35% with the Brisbane in CPU frequency running HWBP over a Gigabyte 990FXA UD5 & M2RSH so wasn’t much impressed. Could be BIOS or this example or me, was looking like shrimpbrime had some pretty good results with the board one of the reasons I choose it.

I had a 990XA-UD3. It was pretty good with my Phenom II. Has pretty decent spi eff for example. Core unlock worked excellent also. It's a good board I think. Especially if You see the price. There was only one strange thing with that board. I can use tight ram timings only with higher bclk with lower divider. But that wasn't so big problem at all.

I have a fondness to Giga boards after using the 990FX but it did have a problem unlocking some cpus.
