Picked up a 3570K on fleabay that was listed as being dead for $49. Pics showed it not looking so bad but two resistors on the back had been knocked off, that would explain why the seller said when they tried it they got nada from it. Got it in, looked it over and yes it was as I thought it would be - No other physical damage noted. At first I checked to see if I couldn't simply resolder the pieces that were missing but that turned out to be something more difficult than I was equipped to handle but then remembered these are resistors, not caps as many say they are so..... Broke out the #2 pencil and etched in the space between the contact points and now it's doing something at least. I do get the POST screen with the chip's ID and all but so far it goes no further. I believe I just need to keep working with it and eventually I'll get it working again. If this actually works out I'll let you guys know and this could be a way of either fixing such things if you run into it yourselves or as I did to get a desired piece on the cheap.

Update: So far not so good but will try to resolder the missing pieces, noted these could very well be caps so I'll have to look and find what I need to try it with. I also thought of a way to possibly resolder the pieces without it being such a pain and will give that a shot later as well.
