Are these boards just quirky or are the ones I’ve played with on their last legs. First one was a P5Q3 had a problem with CPUz opening once the FSB was in respectful Kentfield range, also had a weird habit of locking up when you made changes in BIOS so would turn it off at the power supply let the light go out turn it on and it would boot through like nothing happened with the changes in place. Next is a P5Q3 Deluxe I traded a Quadro for, works just fine except CPUz has no RAM information, reads fine with Everest and SetMem gives the same error code I get on X58, tried a couple BIOS’s, new battery and a fresh OS install. Last a P5Q WS overall not too bad but will not make Windows with the FSB above 445, will do 510+/- in Windows but throws the timers off so errors out in Geek Bench.
(I’M DONE WITH P5Qs)

Bought a week ago an Asus Rampage Formula X48 for 80$, all in. Pristine ! Needed to refresh my memory banks a bit, but it was flying in an hour. No issues. 4g ddr2 - 1066 - clocked to 1200, windows 7x64, managed to get stable 6x600 on water on a crappy q6600. Cpu-z works fine, timers are fine.
Putting it on Dice tomorrow. To be followed by Q9550, Q9650, QX9770. I sure don't give shit if they all die. 450$ for all of them. Less than the value of my good I7-6700K, Lol...

Sounds like you got a dud Brad my P5Q3 wifi will boot over 500 bus no worries the highest I have booted it with the CPU Diced was 595 bus. But the P5Q3-wifi deluxe is different to the vanilla P5Q3 deluxe the wifi has the 8phase split CPU power 16 chokes and 3 phase on both the NB and Mem the only other 775 board to have that is the Rex.

Had a good RF feed to much Vcore on a Q6700 melted one of the pins in the socket as well as a P5E and a REX, X38/48s me and Kentfields do not get along!
It is the WIFI, just no RAM in CPUz!

Don't worry mate.
As I do not get along with AsRock. Out of three boards, none survived more than a week.
I kept the blown capacitors in a plastic bag. maybe make a small video and upload it to YouTube with the boards - Just to offer some advertisement to AsRock.

I'll give the P5Q3 another go down the road but using a Gigabyte board that's working well so going to try a Q9450 & Q9550 for some UPs, although it's not producing good wPrime scores had to switch to W7 64 and dropped the scores by about 0.3 seconds in wp32 but comparing still slow for the clocks so got some tweaking to figure out.
