Biostar K8M800 ?

Has anyone benched one of these boards ? its AM2 and with ddr2 and AGP. I was going to pick one up for benching AGP cards and wanted to know if it was worth bothering with.

AM2 would be the fastest platform with an AGP slot. It would be worth it IMO. I've heard of the board, but never had one myself.

I would assume a C2D capable 775 board is the true fastest for AGP, but as far as actually obtainable boards go, that Biostar might be alright.

Looks like the K8M800 supports only 65w Athlons. 5200+ at best. I'd have to look up and see if there's a 65w 6000+ version, maybe a Brisbane core. Don't see support for Phenom Agena core. You only need a dual core really, the extra cache of a Phenom would bench better.

Yeah, I think 5200+ over an E6400 would suffice. Just depends on 775 OC scalability and how you plan to cool it. Air cooling, go with the cheaper option IMO.

The 775Dual-VSTA or AM2NF3-VSTA would be the way to go but I did not want to spend that much. I can get a k8m800 for under 50$.

Put a dual core @ 4 gig in it and you're off and running.

That was my thought. I think I will nab one up. I just wanted to ask encase it was a trash board. I'm not very knowledgeable with the newer stuff let alone newer AMD stuff. Once you get around SK1366 or sk 754 my brain goes to mush 😅

I wouldnt worry about it there is a ton of difference between a 5200+ and a 965be scores will reflect that.

There IS. Mainly L3 cache beside architecture.

Ended up pulling the trigger on a Biostar K8M800. for just under 50$ I got a board, some ram I don't need and two CPU's. a 4600+ and 3200+. I'll nab a faster CPU latter on. but the 4600+ should do for the lower end cards I have.

I got the board over the weekend and so far it looks good. Can't wait to go at it.

on a side note I found out there is more then a few AGP am2 boards out there

yep.a smell I know all to well.
