Has anyone tried to use a clip on heat sink for socket 462 on a socket 423 motherboard? the socket seems to have clips for a heat sink just like 370/462 and from what I found online they are about the same size but 423 seems a a few mm longer from what I am seeing online.
Would anyone here have a 423 board they can check that with or have tried this befor?

The clip latches are too wide on s423 to fit s370/462 heatsink's IIRC. s603/604 heatsinks should fit just fine on s423 so I'd just find one of those instead.

I mean the plastic tabs themselves are too wide, most s370/462 won't have clips with latches wide enough to fit unless modified. Also I'd imagine the height of the cpu to be a problem too, the clip on a regular s370 heatsink needs to be bent to fit on a Tualatin PIII and the s423 P4 is even taller than that.

Ohh cool so it can work with minor mods. I have a 462 block I might be able to use on 423. it has springs so no bending and it made to use all 3 tabs on the socket.
