Never had anything to do with them but it looks OK. theres not a great to read about them from what i saw, apparently there was supposed to be a x48 MAX as well as this one but read it on 1 site they guy said it was wasnt released that he knew of , it has a max logo on the NB heatsink fan hold down plate, theres more info on the Max than there is saw on the GT3 and the one i posted of b4 is missing the NB fan and hold down bracket www.techpowerup.com/45003/abit-unveils-ix48-max-motherboard-based-on-intels-x48-chipset

if you asked me, Abit was one of the most under rated MB manufactures out there. I owned/used 3 of their boards (775-AA8XE, AM2-K9N and I forgot what the 3rd one was). Their Windows Overclocking tool uGuru always worked! ( techreport.com/review/9078/abit-fatal1ty-an8-sli-motherboard/4They were the first to have an external OC device; I never got to use this one, but would had loved too... If I would run in to well priced Abit boards I'd scoop them up in a heartbeat. My boards failures were my fault, I regret not taking better care of them. Vin

Looking again the one thing I dont like is the lack of Phases on the CPU VRM the P35 that Vin posted has only 4 phases plus the NB and mem are only single phase. The X48 looks to be 5 phases which sounds odd. Compare that to a P5Q3-wifi-Deluxe or a REX they both have split 8 phase for the CPU 16 chokes and 3 phase for both the NB and Mem. Most good 775 boards have 8 phase CPU and dual phase mem.

Didnt the P5Q3 go to your friend? yeah, said it maybe different things, but hinted moreso towards the NB chip as the probable cause, same as the m3a32mvp i took down pete can you edit it:
