Famous for high clock but timed so loose low performance. How about samsung 2gbit d die and hynix 2gbit cfr? I do atleast know 2gbit d die was pretty famous back in the day for some pretty good ocs but unsure about hynix cfr other than being another stupidly high clocking hynix chip, actually found some dual sided ones for 3$ ea awhile ago on fb marketplace Also found some xtreem dark LV 1600 7-7-7-21 2gb sticks Any chance of these being pscs or hypers? If its just 2gbit d die or some other common ic id rather just buy em in green pcb form like m378b5773dh0 for 2gbit d die, i have pscs but i dont think theyre that good bin so if i do wanna play around with benching or clocking dual rank ill atleast have the rams capable of doing so Also kinda curious about quad rank on ddr3 cause all the good performing ics seem to be either 1gbit or 2gbit and only the latter is really usable on a normal 4dimm board for 16gb and having actually decent performance, i mean id still have to run dual rank for any semblance of performance and i dont think i can push much past 2600 even on a good platform like haswell let alone sandy thats limited to 2133 + bclk or x58 even with a 980/990x or xeon w3680/90, so if im gonna be stuck to slow speeds i might aswell get ics that actually perform well and do decent timings. just asking since i found a deal on a cheap untested w3680 and a broken ud4p so might make that a build for stuff that wont run on my crappy s410p, just something to hold me over till i get some money to jump to ryzen and more of a preview as to what i can do with pcs other than oc cause currently not too interested in pc gaming, had an rx 580 awhile ago but sold it off and the only thing i really did with it was emulate gt4

Those aren't "Bad" (Depending on the exact IC version), just not as good as some other sets if they are D9 based. They will handle voltage well up to about 2.3v's with active cooling (Fan on them) but anything over 2.4v's is usually lethal to them over time, and that's normally a short period of it. For D9 based sets, 2.3v's is about the max you'd want for them anyway since more voltage doesn't make any real difference in how they do and all it does is make them run hotter. Some D9 sets can run CL6 or even CL5 even if their stock rating is for CL7. Again, it depends on the exact version these IC's would be, along with your exact board, BIOS version, chip and all else that figures in.

Again, it depends on the exact version these IC's would be, along with your exact board, BIOS version, chip and all else that figures in. They are 1.65v 7-7-7 1600 so i guess that matches up, not exactly good for anything other than 775 with such slow clocks And im just gonna assume max 2.3v has been tested quite a few times, though kinda surprising that those microns cant run that high voltage considering ive stress tested that aluminum covered 1gb samsung f die at 2.46v for 8 hours on large ffts, not to mention some 775 mobos having like 3v+ voltage range for ddr3 which is kinda ludicrous cause what the hell ddr3 ic will even scale to those kinds of volts Also i got some 1156 boards on hand, a p55a ud3, and a p7p55d already flashed to a p7p55d-e deluxe which seems to help it hit higher ram clocks (premium bios doesnt work, non e bioses dont work aside from the original bios, ebb swap doesnt work either). Ive noticed that on my now dead i3 540 i couldnt push much past 2000 ddr3 even though nehalem counterparts can push quite abit past 2000 ddr3 so i wonder why 1156 westmeres have such trash imcs and im curious as to nehalem 1156 imc capabilities cause looking at i7 860 max ram speed validation someone pushed 2600 on ln2 and i noticed that uncore and ram speed seem to not be running in 1:1, thats the biggest limitation on 1366 nehalem for ram freq cause you need stupid amounts of vtt to run 4000+ uncore, so im curious as to how 1156 nehalems clock rams Im not only chasing ludicrous ram freq on the ideal z87/97 + haswell (refresh), i mean 3000+ is a piece of cake with just hynix mfrs or maybe even cfrs but thats because its easy to hit those speeds when you have the best platform for ddr3 clocking, but i also wanna chase high ram freq on crappier platforms like 1155 1156 am3(+) maybe even fm1/2(+) just for shits and giggles, and also because if i build a ddr3 rig for myself it definitely wont be haswell with the ludicrous prices of cpus and mobos (might aswell jump to used ryzen) and because most of the stuff i get and manage to fix wont be haswell so i just wanna know how far i can push these crappy platforms cause its fun

Welp i just got another giga x58a ud3r for like 27$ and since i sold off my crappy e5645 im just testing it with an i7 950, and god damn this board can actually run non 1:1 uncore : dram, and now ive managed to boot into windows at 2400 albiet only for a second before 0x24 bsod which ill diagnose later since windows is being a pos and reinstalled nvidia driver for my gts 250 which is kinda broken and problably needs a reflow cause it wont run with the driver but it does a good job of being a display card
Ive actually managed to post 2600 on this thing but 2800 seems unobtainable and yea that seems to point to these pscs simply not being enough to run these ludicrous speeds, and yes im running these speeds on 3 sticks not just 1, uncore and cpu freq both at 3600, vcore at 1.45v (llc off), vtt at 1.55v
I have run into the issue of this board just restarting when it displays "recovering lost ram size" something along the lines of that which is expected when running high speed but even on optimized and failsafe defaults still happens so need help with this so i dont have to constantly keep changing settings to get it to boot into windows
Its 4 in the morning so ill have to continue after sleep because ive been playing with this thing since 2am
Yep nehalem imc is a beast without being artificially fucked by the 1:1 shenanigans, but i dont think i can test dual rank oc on this thing because i only have 5 psc sticks and my 6 d9qbj sticks have trash trfc capabilities so may not play well when oced this far so need to buy some sticks that can clock properly, probs some double sided 4gb hynix cfrs (3x4) and maybe ill buy some cheaper sticks for max ram freq validation for 6 stick and single rank, samsung 1gbit g die looks interesting since the i7 980x max ram freq sub uses it in generic green pcb form for 3400mhz but im also curious of other 1gbit and 2gbit ics that can clock >3000, and i was about to sell this thing too so i think ill sell off my 2 p55 boards and problably repair and resell the other x58a ud3r, there is a broken ud4p for 8$ and if i can fix that and it doesnt clock worse than either of these 2 ud3rs then i can finally sell this u3dr, problably with a ddr3 3000+ setting because haha funny bare pcb rams go brrrrr

Welp hit 2900 with this thingy, seems to hardwall at 2900 cause even adjusting the bclk by 1 will cause it to no post, and ignore the 3 sticks the i7 950 was dirty so only 1 of the ram channels was working but fixed after i sprayed with some IPA Im suspecting that its a mobo hardwall but hey it beat amd fx Trying to run more than 1 stick seems to have issues but i think ill just buy some better rams first cause these pscs are kinda shit and 2 of em are actually duds that wont post at 2900 so no proper dual rank testing Think ill just buy some cheap g dies and see if i can hit higher freq or atleast have better oc on 3 or 6 sticks Welp got mid semester tests to deal with so ill have to try and not get distracted so my scores dont fall through the floor

Welp managed to hit 3000 ddr3 and all the way up to 3200 on this goofy nehalem setup, but yea these sticks are topped out and ill need better sticks The i7 950 i was using before has a shit imc that tops out at 2900 so no board is totally fine no hardwall on the mobos part, this i7 930 is cracked though, 3200 isnt even enough to max it out, literally cant post above 3200 simply because this psc has just topped out and that 3200 screenie is just a rare instance of 3200 actually posting Pscs stopped scaling at 2.2v which is unfortunate, going higher causes no post Vtt needs to be atleast 1.6v otherwise no post Auto timings surprisingly enough managed to optimize the rams, c11 wasnt getting into windows but apparently c10 is ideal for this stick, the rest of the timings are auto so they can be set super loose, kinda funny that hitting this speed is just a matter of set the ram freq and leave the timings at auto ill go buy some better rams after this Attachments:

Welp only hit 3100, doesnt wanna post above 3100 so maybe im hitting an imc hardwall with this samsung g die but idk The i7 950 can hit 3000 ddr3 with this g die instead of the 2900 it hardwalled at with the pscs but the 930 can only hit 3100 and not the 3200 it could boot with the pscs Welp think ill buy a stick of 2gbit cfr and maybe even 1gbit bfr cause ive seen that mentioned before maybe its decent Ics are capable of more as they dont crash at 3100 even if i throw p95 largeffts at it (errors but p95 and windows dont crash) Needs 1.7v vtt to run >3000 Needs most of the subtimings manually set Doesnt need much volt to run 3100 (only 2v) 16 multi doesnt work in the first channel but works in the second channel, can be worked around by putting in a dummy stick on the 2nd channel 18 multi outright doesnt work but ill have to test this abit more Welp i guess ill need a better cpu but buying diff rams is cheaper so ill do that first cause this imc did show potential being able to do 3200 with the psc maybe needs a diff ic that isnt gdie

Is it normal for 2gbit hynix cfr to be able to run 105trfc at 2800mhz? Btw got 2800 ddr3 stable on 2 double sided hynix cfr sticks (hmt351u6cfr8c), maybe 3 stick when i get a better board that doesnt have a complete dogshit 3rd channel Just toying with this thing again and im about to list it for sale as i wanna get a better board so hopefully the 2800mhz ram will boost its value, currently looking at an ex58 ud3r since its only got 4 slots and im not interested in running 6 stick overclocks I would go for an asus board if it werent for their retarded forced uncore : memclk ratio Any board manufacturers aside from gigabyte that dont force uncore memclk ratios? from what ive read dfi might not have forced ratio aswell and theres someone thats selling a t3eh6 for 20$ so ill grab that anyways Forgot to update here even though its been like 3 weeks since i got this oc stable

when i get my rig back up I am considering making my own thread as to not hijack this 1, also to keep confusion down.

when i get my rig back up I am considering making my own thread as to not hijack this 1, also to keep confusion down. Dont think that matters now since ive already hijacked this thread Went from ocing on amd fx to ocing on x58 and problably fm1/2 in the future so yea i think ill also make a new thread unless i can change the thread title to "ddr3 oc" instead Just share whatever you want cause now im curious Also does anyone happen to know of any places that process ewaste or computer mobos around the new york area? I have a friend thats currently in NY and will be there till the 10th of november so id like to get some hardware thats basically unobtainium here in indonesia, particularly giga x58a-oc and giga g33m boards or an atx version of the giga g31 boards (sighted some before but idk where they went) cause the giga g31m s2c seems like it might be a pain to make a northbridge voltmod, but i dont mind getting other stuff like evga boards, dfi boards and whatnot And now i feel alot more confident in using parts so if anyone wants to donate stuff like ln2 pots i may use in the future might aswell do it now while i got a friend there since funding is likely to be solved pretty soon since one of my teachers appreciates entreprenuers so i can get extra score, basically means i have funding for my buisness thingy to make some money since now theres an incentive for my mom so money shouldnt be too much of an issue from here on out not to mention the 300$ ish worth of parts i got still unsold
