So I recently picked up a combo deal of a gigabyte P55A-UD6 motherboard and mystery i7 CPU. it was sold cheap because of errors and one the errors was the C1 error. I got it, plugged it in with some of basic corsair XM3 ram (2 sticks) and it didnt boot, showing 88 and then a C1 error. I cleared the cmos and then..success! boot screen! as for the mystery i7? Well it is a i7 860! So now that I have working P55A-UD6 and i7 860 (yay) I am wondering for anyone who has used this board what tips do you have for the getting the best overclocks on ambient (air) cooling?
Also what ram recommendations do people have?
I am new to 1156 as well.
thanks,

G.Skill trident are Ok PSC its all in the serial number Generally Dominator GT are the better Hyper but Corsair PSC only has a 6 layer PCB. G.Skill is 8 layer and performs much better. The serial number the first 3 or 4 digits are the date depending on weather before or after 2010 then the numbers have to be 1040 thats PSC. I cant open the link to G.Skill serial numbers at the moment will try again soon and link it. Here is the link to the G.Skill serial number list. www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?283666-Figuring-out-G-Skill-s-SNs
