Resurrected an old MSI B350 motherboard. Using: R5 R5600G 2x8GB HyperX 2666 @ 3200MHz PNY CS900 SSD Nexus NX-5000 PSU simple noname ATX case stock FX AM3 CPU cooler W10 Home This appears to run so cool that even an AM3 cooler can handle it. Game boost in BIOS suggest multiplier 47x by default(not using it atm).
EDIT: remembered have a HPC-420-302 DF PSU which I modded to 24pin, but only a 4-pin EPS cable, tested that one also, works.

Which AM3 cooler? I'm using an Opteron heat pipe cooler on my kids rig, same exact cpu, the 5600G. Fast chip, it does the same work as a 2700X but with less threads and seems to run cool too.

Think it is this one, w. AMD sticker, four pin cable :
RPM around 1800-2000, not too noisy.
I have this one too, not in use :
I accidentally ran the R5 5600G in my A520 without CPU fan, Akasa AM4 cooler, since the connector was a bit off. No issues during that time.

Yep, that second one is what I'm using on mine. Though I upgraded the fan from a wraith Prism which clips right onto that heat sink. You can tell it's an older heat pipe cooler because of the plate at the bottom vs the wraith Prism which the heat pipes directly touch the cpu, so no plate. I prefer the plated design myself.

^How are the RPMs on the AV-Z7UB? Mine is with the copper base plate. Some review mentions :
"but the AV-Z7UB408003 was rather adamant and devoid of a PWM signal would always automatically correct its speed to 3000 RPM"

Can't recall if I updated anything here about the MSI B350.
The Nexus was replaced, still functional, But it was a bit loud, so put an old HPC instead.
Anyhow, turned out the PCI-e slot is dead. But board runs just fine with R5 5600G. Son had this in use until the PSU died, suspect it killed the PCI-e slot, he had RX 5700 in it but that one survived. I swapped the CPU cooler to the AV-Z7UB in it, seem to handle temps better at high load.

ahh yes, those boards. I knew quite a few people on them. The power delivery can be a bit shaky on those with newer chips, I wouldn't push the IGPU too hard on it. Aside from that they usually ran withou much complaint

^yes, this is not an overclocked "unit" anymore(actually never been), runs fine as it is.
hmm, now have an almost new spare Maxpro // Enermax 600W PSU available, should I put into this rig. I have a some of this attitude, "if it works, don't touch". The rig is just fine, with an old HPC PSU. But now summer season so rig not much in use. Mostly been with a gig A520 which is another story, but no hiccups so far.
Just dislike dismantling parts from other "survivors". Done that soo many times, when it was fun.

Whats fun is seeting rigs put to curb and reviving them whether its a cap replacement or board replacement...

^not sure what you refer to, this is not a curb find. Elder son's first build, but now parts in re-use here, somehow. Guess you mean that good stuff still works after a bit of "troubleshooting".

^ah yes, that RX5700 GPU card at that time cost more than the whole rig, I think. (still in his new rig, but due to his duty travel, not been in use lately). (I will not say where he is, but perhaps some can make a guess, but it is a troubled zone area that has been going on for over 500 days)

^ but there are no commies in the ru. leadership anymore (the propaganda&control going on), they are rehearsing their chess play (sad). Wallet full of lies. (If I w'have had something to say, would advice them to stay at their own turf, run own country but do not step on others feet).
