A few months ago the idea came to me to extract the .C4D files from old Cinebench versions, put them back into Cinema 4D, and render them in 4K on modern hardware (since Cinebench 2000, 2003, and R10 only CPU render in 640x480). I was going to re-render the motion sequences as well to try and get some good looking, high resolution eye candy. But there's one big issue: My copy of Cinema 4D R23 cannot open the files. I'm met with an error message saying they're created in a version of Cinema 4D 11.5 or below, and can still be converted in a version up to R19. I have been able to find R9 and R11, but do not have the license keys for them. Everything else I've found online has either had a deprecated download link or been a virus. Where should I go from here? Any insight would be appreciated!

Personally I'm not aware of anything that can help, I've never even attempted something like this before.

Well, I found a copy of Cinema 4D R19. A little disappointed I couldn't get an earlier version, but this works, and I'm glad to see my plan finally come to fruition.

I remember this program. A little bit.
And if I'm not mistaken there was only one version that actually worked and it was buggy.
But that's all I can remember about it.

There are still new releases today, it's not super buggy. But these files from 20 year old Cinebench versions are too old to be opened in R23, the version I owned, so I had to find an older copy.

Well that's what I meant, the old versions of 4D. I played with it once, years ago. Many. Maybe 14 years ago now. On hardware much slower than todays, I believe that was a contributing factor to the bugginess. Wasn't aware that there was newer version available. Hadn't thought about it for a while. Stared at that screen shot for like 20 minutes lol. Then it pop in my head, "Hey!! I did mess with this once!!". I can't even tell you why I had lost interest in it. The program is beyond my patience to work with it. lol. Recently I've been playing with Ageia Physx and a PPU2. Hoping to make a small write up at TPU. But playing UT3 with physx maps has been hella fun. Even though it's just against AI.... lol.
