I thought I was old.....
Anyway, how's it going everyone, I'm pioneerisloud, "pio" for short. I thought I had an account with ya'll years ago, but I guess not. Anyway, here...I'll actually give ya'll a little bit of a life story.
So, I'm kind of a nobody really. I'm just some dude that tinkers with junk. I've been involved with computers since the Apple II was a thing in 1st grade for me back in the early early 90's. I've been tinkering with audio gear since I was 3 (per my parents and grandparents). My first actual PC was I think it was an Apple II with a 13 or 14" green and black CRT and 5 1/4" floppies playing Oregon Trail. I later moved onto a Centris 660AV system. And then my mom got a Pentium 133 machine with Windows 95, and I just HAD to try out a Windows machine, it looked so cool! So later on, I think it had to have been 97 or 98, I got my first Windows machine (Win 98 original). AMD K6 233 with SiS and EDO RAM. I've been hooked ever since. Tried Voodoo cards in it, upgraded later on, and well, you guys know how it goes.
Anyway, what brings me to the forum here is old builds. I'm tired of the new junk. SOME of you may know already, but I'm actually working on building one rig per generation. My goal is to have a K5, K6, two K7's (P3 / P4 era), 754, 939, AM2, AM2+ / AM3, and all the Ryzens. So far....I have a huge chunk of the parts, and I think about 6 of the later builds done or nearly done to the specs I want them at. Still a huge work in progress, I have a build log thread (won't link since its external). I'm having some random BSOD issues in my own brain lately it seems though. I used to be a pro with Socket 939, I was known for like a decade on overclockers forums with K8 / K10 overclocking. Today, I can't even seem to get a 939 rig properly functional.... Soooo, that's where I might turn to some of you guys for some help if you don't mind. I'm getting there, the knowledge is there in my brain somewhere. But man....I'm terrified of starting on the Socket A's and older if I'm already having these issues with the 939's.
Anyway, wanted to stop in and say hi.
