Hi all, For the past few months I've been unemployed, and I've spent this time trying to learn as much as possible about overclocking and to try and teach myself the skill. I've always had a desire to OC, but it wasn't until just August of last year that I began to learn hands-on - just never had the hardware available, nor the time or money. Here I am in late April, and it's so far been a hell of a lot of fun to do alone. My mind has exploded so many times from reading others' knowledge of OC. Now I use OC to help fight my personal battles, as I'll bet many other people do. But, I also think it'd be fun to stream to anyone who'd be interested, likely within the next week or so once I get my capture card. Of course, I would appreciate corrections and tips to my OC on stream, but you can just watch and that's appreciated. I'll probably not stick to just one socket or component to OC at a time, I like to jump around often. This would be my first stream, so I'm not sure whether it'll be on YouTube or Twitch yet, but I will update this thread once details are in stone. To be fully clear, I will disable donations/subscriptions if possible - I am doing this for everyone's enjoyment only. Take care

Howdy, I've got basically everything set up and ready except for the capture card, which should arrive tomorrow. This means I'd be ready to stream as soon as tomorrow afternoon. So anyone interested, expect a stream around then! It'll take place here: Still working on the "x" part of XOC, but MLOC was already taken I'll announce it here in this thread once I figure out the exact time. Don't expect the world - I'm just looking to have fun Thanks everyone!

UPS has decided to take its time - cap card didn't come today. I probably should have waited until it arrived anyway... I'll tentatively schedule the stream for tomorrow, at 5pm EST (21:00 GMT).

Damn... Oh, UPS. Unless I do this 2005-style, I won't be able to stream today. Apologies for having to postpone twice. Next time I post in this thread will be when I actually have it in my hands.

It's cool - You're not the first or the only one that's ever happened to. I've had stuff arrive at the local USPS for delivery to my place......And then it goes waaaaaaayyyyy off somewhere over in Bumfuk Egypt, boomerangs back from there to the local USPS again and finally here.
Sometimes it's shipping info won't update before you actually have it in your hands - Weird but true.

Don't rush things when you do get the card. Unless you're already familiar with streaming, it's going to take time to get it all setup and working properly. Once you have the card and can verify all is working that's when you'd want to post the notification for the stream.... And do expect a few glitches even after it seems OK. If you are familiar with streaming then you know that's probrably how it's going to go anyway. As you've probrably seen I have streamed before and that's how it went for me.

Definitely, I'm expecting some bumps in the road starting out with a new card as you mention. A few days ago I went in and set up a couple scenes, got the webcam set up (it's like a perfect bird's-eye ), and so I just gotta add the feed and I should be good. Btw, in your experience do you prefer OBS or Twitch Studio? I expect OBS to be far and beyond better, but for a rather basic setup does it have any huge benefits?

I've only used OBS and I do suggest whatever you go with, stick with it if it works. OBS is compatable across a very large range of cards, probrably with about any capture card you can name. It does have it's quirks but once you get it figured out and setup it's really easy to use.

UPS managed to lose the package. I filed a claim with them, contacting EVGA to hopefully get another card sent. First time I've had this happen, hopefully this moves quickly.

I do hope this gets straightened out quickly. Luckily it seems it somewhat has. EVGA support said they don't do reshipments, but they will process the refund as soon as their claim goes through with UPS. So in the meantime, I got the same card (XR1 Lite) from Amazon for $20 cheaper - nice. If anyone needs a capture card, TPU loved it and it's still on sale for $55. Anyway, it should be coming by Thursday at the latest, but Amazon is usually on the ball for me so earlier next week is likely. Not a bad result, all things considered.

I've never had luck shipping items... here's been my experience...
Fedex = lost 80% of my packages or if they make it, it's damaged... UPS 50% loss rate... only once has a package ever been found and that time I had to go to the distribution centre an hour away to get it as they could no longer send it to me via their truck because it was out of their "shipping channels" DHL = 30% loss rate. but I always got my money back Canadian Postal = 1 package out of many lost.. didn't get my $ back either. A good friend of mine has had the opposite experience USPS 0% loss and never broken... (I guess they get paid more)
I'm happy EVGA are on top of it...

Vin Jesus... that is shit luck, especially with FedEx. Someone there's gotta have it out for you. Do you generally just pick up locally now, or insist on USPS / Canadian Post? Generally if I pay for faster shipping, FedEx for me has been the absolute fastest option. But if I get say FedEx ground, it takes at least a week in transit. UPS will always be > = 1 week, for everything. USPS on the other hand, usually beats its own estimates (which already are reasonable to begin with), and hasn't lost a thing. The way I see it, USPS is competing to try and justify its existence vs. UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. But the private carriers are more concerned about upselling you to faster shipping options, than competing with USPS. Their existence is more guaranteed... just my view.

I use USPS for everything. Never had a bad experience. Price wise, they're in line with everybody else.

I like USPS, FedX coming from Newegg no problem, other folks not so lucky, they lost a laptop I purchased on Ebay wouldn't talk to me had to be the sender. UPS is the most brutal from my experience. DHL just drops everything off at the Red Bluff post office, never seen one at the door.

I usually just shop where I can drive and get it... about 4 years ago I was looking at a rare amp and the seller insisted on shipping.. was about a 14hr drive 1 way.. the whole thing fell through once he realized I wasn't backing down on the a pickup and that I was driving to go get it... turns out the right channel was flackey the amp was rare and old enough that parts were not an option.. you'd keep the shell and rebuild the entire amp... I'm happy he came clean. I would had been pissed...
I avoid shipping as much as I can. or if there is an issue I'm on the seller like a rabid dog to get it sorted out... I also use Paypal exclusively for these reasons.... Bill me the fee.. I don't care..

Finally, Amazon successfully delivered the capture card... XR1 Lite is now in my hands. I need to troubleshoot one issue, namely that my monitor (1680x1050) will not work with the XR1 Lite, probably because it's very old (Dell 2007WFp) and only has VGA & DVI. No order or combination of HDMI -> DVI adapters work. If I can't remedy this I will just lug one of my new monitors down, but I'd rather avoid that if possible. Either way, expect the stream to go live sometime tomorrow afternoon. I will post in this thread when I hit the big button, and Twitch will also send a notification if you've set it to.

I only streamed for a couple of hours - here's the link to the VOD, which should finish uploading in about an hour. I was a bit nervous and repetitive, not a high quality stream by any means. 15:55 is where I actually fix the quiet audio so skip there if you enjoy sound (plus I don't get much done before then). This was more of a proof of concept / test stream. Next time I will announce a specific time a day or more in advance, and also plan out more so what I want to do. I cut things shorter than I anticipated. Thank you.
edit: had to re-upload since YT waited until the end of the processing to tell me I need to verify my account and then retry... RIP add +1 hour for the new upload time
