Coolermaster GX550, a bit of budget line, lasted for over 10 years, then sudden silence. Kids had this one unit in their rigs. Its fan gave up after 5 years, just after the extended warranty period ended, I replaced the fan. Not bad durance IMO. Recent use in a R5 rig with a RX480, later on with a RX5700. Until yesterday. Ah well, have a spare PSU so current user can play on.

That's about the average life expectancy of a PSU so I guess you got your money's worth out of it.... Without it going out in a blaze of glory which is a good thing.

Wow, 10 years. Bones is right. You really got your money's worth out of that one.

^^I agree. I gave it a jump start test and silence it was. I now actually had a look inside it if any visible reason it quit. Components and board seemed OK, however there was a small amount of rat dust/dust balls on the components which may have contributed to its final.

hmm, we did a bit of cardboard box mini build testing, seem the motherboard took a hit also. Can't believe it.
Youngster did some tests before and he suspected the R5 CPU might be dead, but that is very rare IMO. It has not been overclocked.
Now all parts are in a box, should look up a spare AM4 board to test with.
EDIT: Made another attempt with a cardboard build, found that one of the pins in the CPU 8-pin power socket was a bit rough, sorted that.
And, the board and CPU POSTed, so I think there was no further damage than the PSU itself, phew.
