OK, so I was considering setting up our next comp through HWBot.
Please please please vote asap yes or no. This way I can get to setting it up early.
HW suggestions welcome also.

wouldn't that add a lot of complexity, moderation and a requirement to prizes beyond bragging rights?

No.
And next time $$$ must not be involved. Things get pretty messed up.
I would never consider a competition thru HWBOT.
We do things between us to have some fun and some laughs.
No way.

Must say it's not a good idea to use the bot for creating a comp. I could have done it, was even asked if I wanted to by Leeg but when I did mine I said "No" when he asked.
We've never been dependent on the bot and there is no need to be.
As for a comp in April, I'd wait until May at least for having one considering the last one just ended, that will also give you more time to plan and tweak what you want it to be. As for prizes, not my call but I'd be careful with that part of it.

wouldn't that add a lot of complexity, moderation and a requirement to prizes beyond bragging rights? Vin I'm not sure. Never tried it. We set rules and they take care of the rest. Moderation is on us. They simply provide the platform. Then of course, we can have those subs entered into the rankings at the end of the comp. I won't research unless it's backed by you guys. Otherwise I'm totally fine doing traditional benching here in the forum. Though with less complication having a bunch of cooling stages. That makes it a pain in the ass. @georgek, I have cash that was sent to me and requested to be used in another comp. We did not meet "requirements" which the next comp I will have no requirements. That will make it easier. Bones , nothing permanent I assure you. Thought to ask your guys opinions first. Then maybe try a comp on the HWBot platform and see if it works or not. Nothing more than a trial I suppose you could say. I do not plan to do another elaborate bench off with stages. This should keep planning to a minimum. socket 771/775? Dual and single sockets wprime 32m and Cinebench 2003. (Idea example)

I also voted No, I don't think involving HWB would add any added value. You did an amazing job on the last one. Granted I wasn't able to participate due to work and family, I watched and was impressed how well it went. I expected a good turnout, but didn't imagine as many new members because of it.

Personally I don't think my opinion matters either way, as I don't have the experience to know better. That said, if I can run, I will..

Also voted no. IMO, we can have decent comps here and show others you can be bot free. Bring the fun back to the forums.
775 would be a big draw. Single socket only. Cooling methods need discussion.

Scott is correct. We all started from somewhere. Shawn is polite and positive. His benching will evolve with time. But ALL members at W9 are respected and have a right to an opinion. Those who dont, are not W9 members.

Obviously I voted no. What all friends said above cover me 100%. @jon. You referred to me about some $$$ that you have from the previous comp. Either we have rules or not. Since what was set as a minimum was not achieved, give the money back to the kind donors. That is what I would do. Just my 0.02 cents

So that's what we'll do, just without the 10 person restriction.

Then we hold comp here. No sweat off my brow! If you don't mind I ask, the meaning of 775 would be a big draw?

Everybody has 775 and I know a lot that are playing with them again right now. 775 comp will draw people.
Benches for comp need to be discussed. Need benches that utilize dual core and quad so 1 platform doesn't dominate. I'm a big fan of H265 BTW. It runs everything hard.

Can split core count, that's easy. Cooling, we should stick to one type I think, or no restrictions.

I am just a spectator now but I also voted NO. The hatred of The Bot continues. I love the comps you guys put on here at home. It's back to the way it should be and you are in control of the benches and the rules. I don't like the obvious cheating and favoritism at the bot. You don't have to put up with Bot B.S..

Could not have said it better Eddie. Personally I am a victim of Bot's hatred. If it were not for producing Team points, I would probably never bench again.

One thing I'd skip (for now) is the dual socket category; maybe save it for a future comp; its a fun topic, but even more niche then benching itself.

I'm fine with the idea of the next comp being held here at Warp 9.
I also find that running high FSB through LGA 775 NB/MCH to be pretty challenging. There is still plenty for me learn on that platform.
Over the last 4 to 6 months, I've even acquired some additional 775 motherboards on eBay.

Yeah nah, no LGA775 for me. My collection is skewed to AMD but I do have Slot1, s478 and LGA1366 in Intel. No competing in the last X58 comp on ambient though.

One of the difficult tasks to engage at home Forum benching is the lack of hardware between members. I am also one whom would sit out on socket 775. Is what it is.

Same for me, what I do have is largely skewed towards AMD. I only have one 775 board left and it's not that great for OC'ing, the good one I did have Mac has now - I hope it's doing well for him. The good chips I had are also with the board I sold to Mac, made sure they didn't go to waste for the team. That means I'm out of that as well like I was with X58 but that's OK, as long as the comp itself succeeds when held it's all good.

Hmm 3D something like Cheap as Chips? A eally cheap graphics card series so it costs virtually nothing to compete. I am competing in Cheap as Chips now.
