Hi folks. New here, well sort of. I made my account a week or two ago.
Anyway my main hobby is building old gaming PCs. I tend to get board with them shortly after building and move to a new system/build.
I see the folks here tend to bench a lot of older hardware so I figured I join up. I always end up with high end hardware and wile I don't bench much anymore I'm sure I could use some help finding parts from time to time. Right now I'm building a system with a a8n32-sli and a pair of GTS 250's and my next project will be a x58 system with a lanparty board.

That was my first Asus board, the A8N32-SLI, purchased new with an FX-55. Was running GT 760's in SLI and later added to the build an Ageia Physx card. All jammed into a Antec 900 and later Raid 0 on a couple of Raptors.

I'll be using two GTS 250s, a 4400+, 2 250gb Raptors in raid 0 all inside a lain li pc70 case.

Nice, I've been wanting to do a full 939 build for a very long time now. I can't recall if I still have a 4400+ or not. I'm sure to have played with one in the past. Toledo, probably 2.6ghz daily on air would be no issue I'd think. |

Toledo, probably 2.6ghz daily on air would be no issue I'd think. I was hoping for 2.8-3ghz, I'll be water cooling it so fingers crossed.
If you'd like once I'm done with the build and find a X58 lanparty board I'll give you a ring as I will no longer need the 939 board. I'm hoping to find a board some time this summer. I'll have the funds saved up then to really do the x58 lanparty build right.

That will depend on the Cpu. Really it's a gamble, 3ghz is going to be a Very Good chip on ambient liquid in my opinion. My PM box is always open for barter and trading. I do not have funds set aside directly for hobbies (any) at this time though. (reason: home projects) |

I do not have funds set aside directly for hobbies (any) at this time though. (reason: home projects) I know the feeling, I try really hard to keep money out of the computer hobby fund so that I pay off my car. fix up my old car and get some home projects done but that never works out.

Bios collection is a few thousand, not including manuals and tools and other stuff. Need anything, ask. Chances are I have it, if not I can usually point you in a direction. Same for platform advice. Many knowledgeable regulars here. |

My wife doesn't really get it and tells me how she doesn't even like to go in and look at my downstairs basement computer room but still she is fairly tolerant as long as I don't encroach too much into other areas of the house. I've been working on some much needed organizing/purging of my space for the upcoming spring season. |

It's really pretty simple. A woman's challenge in life is material. A man's challenge in life is the woman. Mine could care less for my PC hobby, let alone anything else I'd be into. As long as the kids are involved and enjoying it, I can get away with pretty much anything. Just as long as we don't come home missing fingers and such  Without the wifes concerns, we'd probably be missing full arms by now.... lol. |
