I had read this article a few days ago.
Neither Intel nor AMD care ( and most rightfully so ) for a few thousand "lunatics" that are benchmarking.
Having almost reached the upper potential of cpu processing ( which will be finalised when 3nm processors appear ), they are looking for ways to improve overall performance with metaverse.
It goes without a lot of thinking that such systems will be benchable BUT who on this Earth will ever be able to monitor remotely and rank what the hell is going on.
After the tragic failure of HWBOT with power cores and effifiency cores and ( ..kiss my ass tricks ), we are closing to an end of traditional benchmarking.
For someone observing on a daily basis what is going on at HWBOT, very very few members endorsed Z690 as a benching platform, primarily due to high costs and secondarily ( or is it vice versa ) due to the stupidity of the whole experiment.
I stated a few months back that I will not engage into this or metaverse or whatever.
Benching should be primarily fun, with relatively acceptable costs and VERY CLEAR rules for the competition.
When one or more of the above parameters fails, then any person with basic sanity must say stop.
Contributing to this conservative way of approaching our hobby are the very difficult AND dangerous times we live in.
$$$ can't be thrown away however deep pockets anyone has.
Just my 2 cents on this.

That's largely what I was thinking, plenty of wiggle room to cheat here and no real way to enforce jack about it.
I agree, traditional benching is on the way out and the future doesn't look very bright, I too won't be tossing $$ at it because I don't have it to waste. I'll keep on with what I've got and that's the end of it. Note I haven't done much of anything with my AM4 stuff, got what I've got and that's it - No need to sink anymore into it.

Apropo,
I am looking to replace my tired 15 tears old Porsche. Rules in EU say that by end of 2024 nothing but electric cars will be allowed in big cities.
So, following the trend, I test drove the new Bmw I50M. Roomy car, comfortable, two electric motors, 4 wheel drive, 4 doors.
I asked the salesman a simple question while on test drive. Can I brake by downshifting or only with the brakes ? He looked at me with that astonished eyes, like a lightning him on the head, and said : err, no sir. Only brakes. I insisted. And what if the brakes malfunction ? No reply.
I turned around and gave the car back. Took my old but trusted car and ran off like hell.
Well, you may wonder what this crap I wrote has to do with the discussion.
Originality and clear status of operations is starting to get lost. The USER of anything has to rely on the machines.
Maybe I am too old fashioned ( I am ). But I grew up having control of everything ( besides health ). I certainly will not have machines deciding for me on any level. I will not have machines benching for me, driving for me and who knows doing anything else - sex maybe and me watching ?

Maybe Audi too.

Tesla's build quality is awful. They makes changes on the fly and 2 cars back to back can be build differently... Tesla's are also no good in winter areas. it's a warm weather or southern car at best... Google frozen door handles to start...

They (Tesla)just are not practical. Too many issues and poor-quality control. Here in Chicago on top of all the obvious issues with electric cars and cold weather..........the freaking wheels crack on our rough roads and they are super expensive.

ya, start talking about battery motor cars, Hybrid is the only realistic car to have/use.. sorry for the sway in the wrong direction... should get back on topic.

Traditional overclocking is a dead art.
You are of the last of very few.
Find the old school in house comp thread.
Cause that's where benchmarking actually feels good. Right at home.

Can see the big CHEATING opportunity provided by this, hopefully there will be software that knows.
Looking at from the other side just think of the core count and tweaking possibilities, going to be my house hardware against your house hardware, wonder if overclockable smart toasters will start being the norm for the informed.
For those that work at work might see some more productivity as they can use all those idle units of those shopping and keeping up on their facebook accounts with their phones, plays well into the socialist desires of many.
Some folks going to get a good eye opener with the power bill when they find out their gamer teenager has every connectable device running full tilt 60+ hours a month.
As for Alder Lake I was staying away till I saw the that BCLK clocking is doable, (wondering why), so picked up a Giga board, three CPUs (2 without P & E cores) and RAM. Will say board prices are out of hand and CPU selection in the states is really lacking but hell what do you expect in the socialist states of america and the desires of our present ruling class.

Leadership is the key word. World wide.
There are no true leaders anymore.
They are either stupid and incompetent or outright lunatics.
