I have a 990fx extreme 9 motherboard and was flashing it from desktop software and it failed(I was lazy to flash from boot menu).
I have a CH341A BIOS flasher and the non dismantling test clip thing is arriving tomorrow.
There is an 8 pin chip near the CMOS battery with a dot indicating the "1" pin, but other than that I don't know any indications of making sure it's a bios chip.
Also, if you know any articles or tips on identifying gpu bios chips, let me know.

Never mind. It's given where to put 25 series chip on the board itself.

Got a pic of it and circled it for you.  The chip is removeable so that should make it alot easier but make sure to note where the little notch is on the chip, put it in backwards and you'll hurt it. |

Thanks a lot. Been trying to flash it with CH341A flasher with combotools app but it doesn't seem to work on my phone like it does on youtube. Will either try with other phone or pc and update the situation.

Look at the little half-circle notch to one end of it, I may have said dot but that's what to look for and be sure it goes back in the way it came out.
The socket itself has this too.
Once you're done working with it, just match them up, make sure the legs themselves line up with the slots for them, insert carefully (The legs on the chip bend easily) and it should be OK. Just be sure to insert it evenly as you go, don't let it go in towards one side while getting it in the socket (Leaning to one side), it will go in and seat correctly.

Noob question but which side should the chip be placed for flashing? Right now the half circle is towards the USB port(away from the latch handle).   |

Thank you all very much. I was able to flash the bios from other phone via combo tool app with the flasher connected via OTG connector.
Might make a post about how to select the IC model for newbies like me.
