I have pondering whether to retire my daily driver personal laptop, a Sony Vaio 13". It has been very handy due to its size. Has a good, clear display. Intel CPU & Radeon GPU. A couple of times it has shown signs if ageing.
Many of the new laptops have some form of anti-glare display, it almost seem annoying, blur. Anyway, what would be a better choice nowadays, intel or AMD Ryzen? No gaming. 13-14" size. Price range 500-700€.

right now, my opinion. I don't think there is much difference in laptop performance now. If not gaming you don't need a dedicated GPU.
Integrated GPUs on AMD and Intel have both come a long way and can do 1080p well enough. I have a preference for AMD, look up the 5xxxG series with the Vega iGPU. The reviews I've that have come out are pretty nice.
for brands I've personally stuck with Asus, Lenovo and Dell. No vendors are perfect. I've had good luck with warranties with both Dell and Lenovo. Never needed it on the Asus (luckily enough).

Currently noticed a Lenovo w. AMD Ryzen 7 5700U. Aluminum frame. Spec seem OK. Unfortunately this one has only 8GB of RAM, soldered on board, no RAM expansion slot.
As with many laptops, base config contain one stick of RAM and some do not even have possibility to use dual channel. This bothers me a bit, not having possibility to use all potential of the CPU, over time.

keep looking and you'll find one.

Thanks Vin. Seems Windows 11 will be "default" for new laptops/computers soon. Have not picked one yet.
The old dd laptop I have, not dared to power it up for a few days, not knowing what it'll complain about next
