I did it.. pre-ordered an Asus Strix 3080. Now that this is done, I'll do an order on the weekend for an EKWB Strix 3080 Water Block... if I'm lucky they'll both arrive in 3 months or less...
I should had done this back in December... but that twinkle leak of the 3080Ti held me back until Mid-Jan and then blink we're in March...
sigh... I ain't paying scalper prices.... and I'm still going to try my luck with the bot released on discord... just won't be relying on it anymore...
anyone else here do a pre-order? if not and you got a card, how did you do it?
out here, a Strix 3080 is being scalped for up to $2800... I shit you not.
if I met this person, in person, to buy the card.. I wouldn't make it home.. this shit infuriates me... I'd be off to jail

I also put in for an Auto-Notify on EVGA for an XC3 Ultra...
EK makes a block for both those cards and EK has stock on both.. so I guess I'll wait for one of the two options to bite before I buy the WB...

I've been tempted by the performance boost of the 3xxx series, but I have so many other things I want to do that I just don't see it happening, at least not this year, doubly so with pretty much having to upgrade my rig (seven years old plus constantly hitting lack of memory issues, slowdowns, and momentary lockups). ...Besides, if I didn't have to get the rig, I think I'd sooner get a bunch of Master Grade gunpla kits, or a few and some gorgeous resin conversion kits, since those I at least have a chance of acquiring. I'm amazed that this gpu thing has gone on for so long, because in some ways it's almost tempting to see if my 980 and 980 Ti would sell for a decent amount, but ah unno, I'd rather not - because an overpowered HTPC sounds more fun It's probably also more related to a feeling that I'd rather play the gpu roulette next year, when things have hopefully stabilized a bit more, and I'm back to full time work.
