I can't justify a $350/month hydro bill for working 3 GPU's for barely the points count of 1 GPU... I'm a touch frustrated with it. I've been really trying to stay positive, but the last month and a bit, it's been getting to me.. and I figure I'll be laid off in the coming weeks as well like the rest of the peeps out there, so I may as well be per-emptive in the next bill.
So I'm finishing the one WU that's in the garage rig and then I'm shutting her down.
If they clear up the the issues and start sending a steady stream of WU's I'll fire them back up as long as I am working and bringing in a steady pay-cheque.

Thanks, my main PC has been getting a constant work flow. So as long as that keep up, I'll be in for my 1.4-1.8 mil ppd
but if I start seeing breaks then it's going down as well.

Jesus Vin Electricity is like gold over there I thought it was dear here I pay about $500 a quarter. yep, taxed to hell.. cost /KW was changed to use the "Low" rate until the end of May because everyone here is on "lockdown" so it should go down a bit. on that bill, $90 of it is delivery.
the rate scheme
Low Rate = 7pm to 7am High = 7am-10am Mid = 10am-3pm (I think) High = 3pm-7pm
that bill is for about 1500kw last month...

Start buying Deep cycle Marine batteries and small solar panels. I think @avalanche could help you set up some off grid electrical should you need pointers. When I start kicking kids out someday, that's what I'll be investing in myself honestly.

low estimate for me is 40K to push back to the grid and get a discount on my bill.... I need a touch more than a few cells.. lol. and batteries don't help me unless go off-grid. then the estimate is about 60K. I'm an Electrical/Electronic Technologist. I've dug in to this... it's just out of my means.

They have solar inverters without batteries. Then s/h panels. Hobby size 1K will get you started

My roof is littered with panels, have panels run full in the morning and others in the afternoon as well as panels that produce all day. Total production for March was 692K or a little over 23K a day if I'm running a couple rigs folding and/or benching heavy with the chiller I'm buying power from the grid to run the house plus more.
When I first had the solar installed it did more or less give me a zero grid bill (water cooling) using the chiller created more than $1000 catch up (yearly) so have had more panels installed (roof is max'd out) which I haven't seen the results for yet.
CA (PG&E) has a tier system, actually tier 1 is cheaper per K than the solar company's rate and based on average use on comparable square footage, due to the fact that our large population centers are on the coast and being I live in a hot area there is no way in hell I can even come close. Had a friend I worked with in Napa shut his house down (east of Sacramento in the foot hills) for 3 months other than the frig and water pump and still was in the tier 2 usage, which is more per K than I pay the solar company.
I'm done with folding till the cooler months come back.

I tried running for a few days, still dribs of WU's and nothing consistent..
Too bad...

Vin, out of curiosity how many cores do you have on your folding rig. I noticed the first systems to have problems with me were 2/4 & 4/4 with a 16/32 system & a 4/8 having problems at times. Also recall seeing a video clip of the head guy for folding making a comment about minimum being around 8 core for the CPU.

it's an i3-8100 (Quad with no HT). Folding has usually been a core per GPU, and I have that. I've never heard of needing an 8 core CPU... sort-of defeats the point of being small and contributing.
regardless, my ryzen 1700x has the same affliction.

Generally I don't fold on the CPU other than when I first start up. The per core per GPU is what I understood also, but do to the response we might have a little selective culling going on.

I don't fold on the CPU's either. 1 CPU core can use 10-25% CPU usage to manage a single GPU. So that Garage right with 2 GPU's, rides between 30-50% CPU usage when just folding on the GPU's. I tried early on with that system and found that the cooler didn't have what it took to cool folding on 1 CPU and 2 GPU's So I deleted the CPU from the app about a week in with that rig. Vin
EDIT:
1 GPU running...
EDIT2
2 GPU's running

Gave a start a week ago and it seems that I'm getting a steady work flow. Either the added servers fixed the issues or the people assigning the work are going full bore again.
will be running here and there where I can. With temps coming up it will be sporadic as I go.

So I'm shutting down the Garage Rig. 32 degrees C outside here, so it's 25+ in the garage. The GPU's aren't complaining but the temps are higher than I'd like (High 60's and I have the power cranked to min, so it's only going to get worst as we maintain this heat).
So I'll be running a little on my main rig and I'll see about maybe moving the 2080 to a test system in the basement to pull a few points. but it'll be hit/miss on that for next little while.
I've thought about setting up the x58 Classified3, with the wide x16 slots it wouldn't been to bad to possibly cool both the 2060/2080 while in the summer months, but we'll see how that fares.

I gotta redo my F@H. Pulled one card from the system and now it errors me. Last time I think I simply just re-installed F@H to get it working. Is there something else I can do then?

Go to Config > Slot and delete the GPU, then re-add it. I've had issues if I swapped cards and still had a WU that was active for that slot that wasn't complete. Then it should come back, but I've had low points (in the app but not online) for a few days after doing that
sorry for the late reply, home life has been busy
a re-install also works

Taking a break is a given at this point here, can't do anything as said until colder weather gets here which won't be for some time to come.

Been loving the points I'm hitting. Got 6Mil in 24hrs 2 days ago.. I've never hit such numbers.. ever... I'm running 2x 1080Ti's, 1 RTX 2080 Supers and 1 RTX 2060, and the basement is now getting toasty...
After moving the folding from the garage to the basement I was able to get almost another 2 months of folding in, but it's time for me to take a break and slow down. my 24/7 System water loop is sitting at 37 degrees C (12 degrees higher than typical)... Unfortunately SLI'ing my 1080Ti hasn't worked out, the games I play I'm actually getting a FPS deficiency from running SLI.. so that's a real bummer.. So I guess my son will be getting an upgrade from his 3GB 1060 in the next few months.
The Win7 Rig with RTX2080 and RTX2060, I'll be putting the 2060 back in the box for a few months. The 2080 Super will go on her own to keep folding. Depending on how the basement temp bounces back I might move the new-to-me 1080Ti in the bench rig until the winter.
in a week I'm going on vacation for a week, all systems will be off during that time.
I wanted to give you guys a heads up.

I havent folded recently. One card is out and the other is in use all day. But not by me of course. Lol. Will be back into it sooner or later. Summer time is rough on temps.

Taking a real break until winter now.. the heat in my basement has been insane these last 2 weeks. it was bad enough when I opened the door to the basement I felt the heat... odd feeling coming from a basement...
so I'll be boxing up the GPU's for a few months and once we start getting below zero again I'll resurrect the Mom rig and get the 2080/2060 (and possibly a 1080Ti) all going in that rig... though if I do 3 GPU's I'll have to upgrade the PSU in that one as well... 3 of those is too much for 750W... we will see where that takes us...
