Remembered I have a Sempron 140 that unlocks, at the shelf. Since I built up this spare FX rig, might as well try out the Sempron again after so many years. On 1st boot was surprised how snappy it felt. Anyway proceeded with some light OC, stock voltage except RAM, 1.65V. Auto timing, seem to come up as 1T. Wonder why hwinfo64 says it is a4400e and CPU-Z 440?
Introduction date July 22, 2009 Price at introduction $36

This seem to be the sweet spot with current config, cheap PSU, plain generic DDR3. It can do a bit more but at least it is stable.

These seprons and athlons are fun to play with. I had done some experimenting with them for passive cooling. Even had one sepron running so cool, I only used a fan on the IHS plate for cooling. Something like 1ghz or 1.2ghz one core. Maybe 800mhz.... somewhere in there.

Had a small workout with PSUs for the secondary PC. Initially used a 300W Modecom Feel-II which is a cheap simple unit, but reasonably quiet, I do not think it has active PFC. Anyway, tried to look in my stock whether have something better. Dug out a HPC 420W unit, which has active PFC, I had used this in my s939 builds in the past. hmm, turned out it was not quite as quiet as the Modecom. Next, dug out a Nexus 500W which is a quality unit, hoping for silent operation, nope, it did not, was not noisy but could hear it clearly. You know the feeling when wearing headphones and you still can hear the PSU? Next, a Fortron 350W, this was used in my wifes PC before and I remembered it being fairly silent. And so it still is, so will go with that for now, see how long it'll last. I do not have a power hungry GPU in this unit and a low power CPU so this low power PSU will have to suffice for now.
