What follows is the inevitable introduction of RTX 30 cards and a new range of GPUs and graphics cards carrying the name RTX 3080. Apparently Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is very confident of the lead the existing RTX 2080 cards hold in the market, so the first high-end RTX 3080 and mid-range RTX 3070 cards aren't expected to launch until June 2020., After that, Nvidia will spend several months launching new cards to slowly replace its mid and low-end cards. At some point an RTX 3080 Ti card is sure to appear. More specifically, an unveiling is expected at the GTC 2020 AI conference in late March
I'm good with my 2080, and upgrades this year are focused on other, more important quality of life things, like new desk chairs, monitors, a new bed, and most importantly of all, a gigantic 8' diameter (3' thick) bean bag chair full of shredded urethane foam.
That and I'm still kind of bitter about having to have spent sooo bloody much of a mid-tier card.
If I do buy more computer parts, I'm upgrading mobo/cpu/ram to Ryzen 3900X, because that would be a nice boost for various hobbies I have...
People will buy them. It won't really matter. As long as there's performance increase, there's a market for that.
Frames per second at 4K 120hz I believe is the quest no?
That seems to be the quest some aim for. I could care less about maximum frame rates if average and lowest 1% are in the gutter. Gutter is where my mind is, my frame rates need to be good, doubly so since I'm upgrading to ultrawide 3440x1440 in a few months, and it'll be a 144Hz display...
Or I'll go full nutball, and get three 27" 1440p displays (also at 144Hz refresh) and get back into surround, but we shall see about that. I'm kind of liking not having to do the various dances to keep everything happy while surround is enabled...
Elite:Dangerous would be GLORIOUS on three 27" display at 1440p though...
As for the card, I want it to give at least a 35% increase, but I especially want to see things go back down to the previous tiers. $1700 CAD (or more!) for a 2080 Ti is "the fuck are you trying nvidia" territory. Even Titans weren't that expensive a generation ago...
Huh. Rumours are already starting to come out that Ampere is 50% faster/more powerful than Turing, and it uses less electricity. Guess we shall see how it all plays out once they come out. Still really REALLY hoping they get their heads out of their asses regarding pricing though..

I have a 2080ti now and 4k 60hz on some titles is impossible with Max settings so I'd like to see what the 3080ti does hopefully as some said it's not 50% increase in raytracing performance and actual non RTX stuff but we shall see
funsoul: Now ya'll know one of my other "hobbies" lmao

funsoul: Based on your statements, I'd not be at all surprised if the soul of your dad is one of your actual greeters on that side

funsoul: Losing someone we love is so painful. I don't know much but I do know that when your time comes to make the transition, you'll know you're together again.

zila1: Strange. I hear my dad's voice all of the time. Like he's watching over me. Sometimes I hear that strong voice of his calling me. And I hear his laughter. It sounds so real. Like he's standing right next to me.

zila1: I can't wait to see him again. One day God willing when I finally leave this place I will see my Dad, my hero again.

zila1: My Dad was all over Europe during WWII. Served under General Patton. My Dad kicked some ass. It's no wonder he was always such a tough bastard and could drink anyone under the table. I miss my Dad.

zila1: I am feeling very emotional tonight. It took a year but I finally received a copy of my Dad's military discharge papers. I feel very proud of him and I also miss him very much. On the 21st will be a year since I lost my Dad.

ShrimpBrime: Thanks, I appreciate that! I only left because the pay scale was too low. They considered me as a Tech 2 last time. Which I'm beyond that and they know it. Diesel Tech and welding fabrication is my specialties.
