I paid that much for my Evga X58 Classified 3 by itself so I think you got a good deal for that.
Evga Classified, Asus Rampage & high end Gigabyte boards are all top tier and they'll all do the same pretty much.
I recently picked up one of those too in a combo deal. I wasn't looking but the offer was to good just over $300 CDN for all this, this is where the good 980X came from had a link but remembered most won't be able to access it.

www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2600c10d-8gtxd^ Most of this has come back 5 yrs later:-( I have re-purchased a EVGA x58 3x SLI (e760) (different seller) and the R3E + CPU’s w/ the Dominator GT 8-8-8-24. When I sold the GT’s back then they were tempermintal and sometimes would not work :-( I have got them back and 2 do not want to work :-(
To make a long story short : I have installed the i7-920 in the R3E and have been able to hit 225-227 BLCK and in the e760 228 BLCK. I have read all the posts at (
www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?224806-UnOfficial-EVGA-X58-Classified-Owners-Thread/page60)(
www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?250635-***Asus-Rampage-III-Extreme-Owners-Thread***/page97&highlight=Asus+rampage+iiiextreme)and any other place I can find. From what I have read : Both boards will run high BLCK - 240+.. This would mean that my i7-920 is my problem. I tried my i7-950 in the R3E and got the same 225 on the BLCK, so I ordered the EVGA board. This didn’t”t fix the problem :-(
I’m trying to get the highest OC (CPU/MB/MEM) on a AIO before I bench it under a SS or Dice.
I have also read that the x58 likes - HYPERS - I only have the 1 stick left :-(
I do have -
- Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 6x2GB (12GB total) 8-8-8-24 (PSC)
- G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3-1600 3x4GB (12GB Total) (Hynix - BFR)
- G.Skill Trident DDR3-2000 4x2GB (8GB Total) 9-9-9-27 (BBSE)
- Corsair Dominator GT DDR3-2133 2x2GB (4GB Total) 9-10-9-24 (PSC)
** AND FOR NEWER SYSTEMS **
- Team Group Xtreem LV DDR3-2400 4x4GB (16GB Total) 10-12-12-31 (Samsung - BCH9)
- G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2666 2x4GB (8GB Total) 11-13-13-35 (Hynix - CFR)
* I have the following CPU’s - if needed - to help… I7-950, i7-960, i7-965ee, i7-975ee, and 2x i7-980x. I’m currently testing with the EVGA, i7-920, and Dom GT 2133 @ 1333 (2x6 divider) I can also switch out memory sticks if you know a set that would work better.
Any Advice is Welcome
Thank You
