I'm already seeing more and more "Untested" things popping up. Sellers claim the item is untested but I can promise you in most cases that's just BS. Doesn't make sense to list something as an unknown when you can ask more for it simply by confirming it works. I know there are a few that don't care to test for whatever reason, more interested in moving it but this has been seen more often over time.
I've bought a couple of boards that were "Untested" and so far they've all worked but I'm more weary of it now.

I'm on the other side. Most 'untested' stuff I've bought has been junk. So you have to eat it.

Have you seen the ones where they are selling a picture of the item and not the actual item? A PICTURE OF IT! Or the box it came in. They are charging as much for the picture or the box as the item itself. Last year some guy was selling a picture of an FX9590 for 600 bucks.

I generally dont buy untested items it is just asking for trouble. Tested stuff doesnt shape up sometimes so untested you could be getting anything.

That's to catch bots and rip them off...

I'm just wanting to highlight this. I've heard of system specific or OEM spcific CPU's... I'd never heard of this feature specifically until now.

I've seen an occasional listing for an untested item/part where the seller will accept a return if it ends up not working but most of the untested listings are "as is" and "no returns".
Buying anything without the right to return or get a refund is a pure gamble. I.E... How much money are you willing to spend on just the chance to find out if it will actually work or not?
Generally, my preference is to only bid on sellers/listings where if it doesn't work you can send it back/refund the item.

PolRoger BTW did you see the link I gave about socket repair for your REX III? They nuked it over at TPU but I believe the board can be fixed, just depends on the cost and if it's worth it to you. ps3specialist.com/computer-motherboard-damaged-cpu-socket-replacement-service/Yep - Speaking of "Untested", that's how they do it and get away with it too.

I've bought a few untested items and lucked out
Ask for better pictures and more information always. If seller is being an arse that's a red flag.
Just do your research check sellers account for sold items. If you see sold computer items sold as working avoid , avoid , Avoid!!!

Yes I did... Thanks. I'm now in a holding pattern on the REX III. I'm still keeping an eye out on that motherboard, but I still have a Giga X58A-OC, EVGA X58 Classified and an ASUS P6X58D-E.

This sucks, we only hope that this will not become a habit also for other vendors. Already a lot of headache for many with BIOS/CPU support and stuff from OEMs and now this.
