It's going the way of the Dodo, it no longer reflects the desires of those maintaining big gov. Socialism turning to Marxism where gov has absolute power is the generally preferred method for the one worlder's.
At present the US's legal system is being used as a weapon, one side gets a slap on the wrist the other the Gitmo treatment, just depends how your lawlessness fits the agenda of the powers in charge and your ability to pay fines.
Most issues in the news are based on trends within the populace wither through actual fact or propaganda in the end it doesn't matter how opinions get started both work equally well as news sources are chosen based on our own political views.
If you're unable to question you're unable to change and this is apparent with the censorship of big technology on some of the present issues in discussion in the US, (most of the rest of the world all ready has varying levels of censorship in place). Generally speaking our elected representatives are becoming afraid of the masses as they are not representing the voter but their own party's agenda.
Censorship helps keep the masses in line, a common phrase in the early days of this present political (going back to the 1960s, Leary's use) revolt has been forgotten “Question Authority” but that was when the Bill of Rights still had meaning.

In NY, we already have bail reform in effect. Now they're pushing parole reform, which is basically, you no longer have to finish your sentence. There's violent offenders out on the streets in under 5 years.....unsupervised. Also, the vote on the "clean slate' bill ends in a week. Clean slate means your record is sealed after you're out, so it can't be used against you when you look for a job. So, how many touchers do you think will apply for daycare jobs? And Yes, by all means, defund the police. Because that makes just so much sense.
BTW, I watched Escape From NY on TV last night. Pretty soon it will be just like that. Glad I'm armed.

I've been thinking that walls are being built in the wrong places. Instead of along Mexico, maybe it should be SF, LA, NYC, Portland, etc. Escape from NY and LA are good inspirations as you noted.

Well, I remember when "Enemy of the state" was a fiction movie and guess what? Looks like we live in it now. I pretty much love the book "Little brother" by Cory Doctorow which says just how the government "tightens the nuts" (is there such an expression in English?).

No I reference the Pledge of Allegiance, and the state of our judicial system. Judicial system? The one ran by Christianity and "Hearsay"?? That system? Illinois is so broke, this is how it works here. My last ticket, contested and found guilty, "failed to yield at a stop sign" which was 20 whole dollars. The court fine for contesting and a judge judging me without any evidence at all... was 300 dollars solid... for a 20$ ticket. The guy that T-Boned me, straight lied on the bible in court. Says I pulled out in front of him.... While I was watching him on the cell phone barreling at me 55+ MPH. That cost me a truck, tons of money and hospital time with internal injuries. There is no such thing as truth and justice. It's who comes up with the best lies wins.

This place sucks now Jon. I put cameras on my van just to record my travels from now on. If I'm found dead somewhere I'm hoping at least it will have been recorded. LOL..... I have to get a pair of cameras for my Buick now. I want video proof of everything from now on. It records audio too which is cool, although the fucking things now catches me talking to myself in the car. Yeah, I talk to myself when I'm alone in the car and even tell jokes to myself and laugh at them too. I'm a one man party. ROFLMAO Edit: you'd swear I was high on something.

Man there's motorcycle deaths every day. Look out for those guys is right. Quite a few drive like jag offs. The cops in my town think it's cool to fly 40mph+ down my side street while it's a cut through town. Frankly I don't give a damn it's 2:30am and no one's around. If that where me, probably go to jail for reckless.

Fox ran about three minutes on the shoplifting epidemic in San Francisco, Walgreens has shut down a few outlet as they can't keep items on the shelves, that's with extra security. Police hands are tied do to some recent legislation that more or less stops them from responding if it's less $950 (I heard $700 on a local channel, SF must be special), you get to leave a message on their phone I guess for anything under. Words of wisdom from the city don't call the police till the perp leaves for your safety.
The LA City or County DA (can't remember which but city sounds correct) won't prosecute nothing and has released some pretty bad actors that pissed off more than a few so the locales have started a recall drive, sounded like it had a pretty good head of steam last time I heard something, long way from me.
CA's governor is being recalled, looks like it might happen, signature requirements have been met, have to see if it gets pass the government agency validating the signatures. The governor lifted some Covid restrictions but kept his emergency powers per the local news. Wondering if he's, (oops it, not supposed to use gender specific terms anymore) going to use Covid to ward off the recall?

Very serious discussion gents.
Read every post very carefully. Makes me wonder a very simple thing. If US is in such a mess - fact - If US leads the civilised world - questionable - What on Earth are small countries supposed to do ? We see and read horrible things about life there. Verified by posts above. Guns, fear, cameras, paralyzed justice system.
Not looking promising at all.

Everyone makes a living here, even the criminals. The unemployment rate is only a statistic of whom is lazy in our country. Drug dealers don't claim unemployment.

"Everyone makes a living here, even the criminals." ROFLMAO It's true and you know it. My oldest makes enough money to live on his own, but his Autism will hold that back for quite a while yet. Still has more surgeries yet too. Gonna break his jaw and relocate it later this year. We can thank the fine gentlemen and women of the Shriners children hospital for that. Free masons. This really is the best country. Politics and Judicial system does not reflect the diversity of this fine land.

Trully regret posting. A thread for Americans only. No it's not, and no regrets. I personally would like to hear what real people from the other countrys think about the US, not the press pushed stuff. Just as I would like to hear about you guys countrys in real laymans terms. Consider it a learning experience for everybody.

Politics and Judicial system does not reflect the diversity of this fine land. I'd engrave this in stone. Same thing here. I remember when we had such a discussion with you like ten years ago and Mr.Scott concluded a wonderful thought that the people in the US and Russia aren't that different. It's the governments who say that. And when you start thinking what's their gain in that, everything comes together.
I can tell a big fat story about life over here. And then you get another guy who says the opposite. And I can't say he's all wrong. It more than one point of view, it really is a diversity. The only lies are on TV on both sides.
I've heard about BLM, gender and sexual "rights" talks. I've heard about US breaking apart in a few years (heard like 10th time over the past 30 years, LOL). But then I see the reasonable gentlemen over here, the "working class heroes" and I understand it's pretty much the things you probably hear about us.
