Shoutbox

zila1: I just got a freeze warning for tonight on my pc and my cell phone. I'm gonna go out and drain the outdoor faucets and put freeze covers on them. I like that little added protection. Neighbor down the street forgot last year and his pipes burst. Ugh. Oct 15, 2024 10:59:32 GMT -5
austin86: my house was rewired by a X old order Amish guy... I know the pain of having to rewire stuff all to well. Fun times ! Oct 14, 2024 12:37:11 GMT -5
austin86: Hmm ours has a humidifier on it, maybe because its 90% one and not 98%. but now that I think of it I need to drain my heater heater, we never use hot water TBH so I'm sure its not to bad Oct 14, 2024 12:36:04 GMT -5
zila1: I have Peripheral neuropathy and can't take the cold weather very well so I try to prepare my house for it as best I can. Hence all of the stepped up maintenance at this time of year. Oct 14, 2024 12:22:17 GMT -5
zila1: I do this every year in hopes of coasting thru the winter with as little problems as possible. I also have a whole house back-up generator to maintain. 24KW Generac. I love that thing. Easily powers the whole house during an outage. Ice storms can suck. Oct 14, 2024 12:19:23 GMT -5
zila1: I just cleaned that out and put new batteries in the remote and receiver box. I had to rewire that thing when I bought the house. Someone was monkeying around in their before I bought the house and wired it wrong. O_o............home ownership. Oct 14, 2024 12:16:37 GMT -5
zila1: : cool. My next neighbor has one and it smells so good when he's using it. I have a fancy pants gas fired fireplace. It has a remote on it. You push a button and on it goes. Heats the family room pretty good on those cold winter nights. Oct 14, 2024 12:14:25 GMT -5
zila1: It's gonna warm up towards the end of the week and I will go up on the roof and inspect that and the gutters and the solar panels. I'm not comfortable walking up on the roof but it has to be done. Oct 14, 2024 12:12:42 GMT -5
zila1: Now I am going to service my water heater. Putting in a new anode rod, flushing it, taking out the burner assembly and cleaning out the chamber. Then, maybe on Wednesday I will service my sump pump. Clean the basin and clean the backup battery and test. Oct 14, 2024 12:11:32 GMT -5
zila1: : yeah, they need yearly cleanings and inspections like anything else. You really want to keep the humidifier portion of it clean at all times or mold will develop. Replace the pad every season. I keep my furnace shiny clean. Inside/out. Oct 14, 2024 12:08:21 GMT -5
austin86: I have one of those newer fancy furnaces, I did know now you had to clean them... all I did for years was replaces the filters. We hardly use it so maybe we just got lucky lol Oct 14, 2024 10:08:43 GMT -5 *
ShrimpBrime: I certainly do Zila1 Oct 14, 2024 6:58:03 GMT -5
zila1: : you got a wood burning fireplace? Oct 13, 2024 19:56:57 GMT -5
ShrimpBrime: Yeah, I gotta call for a chimney sweep. Aint nothing cheap any more. Oct 13, 2024 17:12:40 GMT -5
zila1: They want from $800.00-$1000.00 to remove the furnace motor for a cleaning and so called tune up on this system. The new humidifier pads on this are expensive too. But the women want a warm house so you know the deal. Oct 13, 2024 11:51:39 GMT -5
zila1: Colder weather is coming in. Cleaning my furnace today in prep for winter. These newer furnaces are such a pain in the ass. Condensate bull shit to clean out. I miss my old 80 percent furnace at the old house. Oct 13, 2024 11:47:34 GMT -5
ShrimpBrime: Damn Pete, you're supposed to be careful out there. Get well soon I hope. At least you're in good hands. Have the nurse clean your giblets real good. Don't want any "fromunda" cheese growing down there! Oct 11, 2024 19:32:57 GMT -5
zila1: Oh Pete I am so sorry to hear this. Take it easy and get your rest. Best wishes for a fast recovery. Oct 11, 2024 13:58:18 GMT -5
Macsbeach98: Also I bought a FX6300 1437PGY but by the time I will be good enough to do anything that comp will be over Oct 11, 2024 2:58:44 GMT -5
Macsbeach98: I just have to take it easy last Sunday night I put the Garbo out and went over on the edge of the driveway I have broken the ball off the top of the Femur so basically a badly broken hip they have pinned it in hospital where I sit writing this now. Oct 11, 2024 2:55:53 GMT -5
