The 790 is the one I'm missing too. Very tough to come by. If only I've seen this a month ago. The LP DK 790FXB-M2RSH being sold at a local marketplace for $35. I've got one, called my teammate, he said he's got one too, so we've passed on it It's because you need to come around more than once a month. We like it when you stop by. Always good to hear from you Alex.

Saw someone trying to sell a board that overclocked the Xeon E3V5s checked it out on Newegg and was on sell so picked one up. Xeons that it uses are still to costly for grinding so going in the closet for awhile.

Don't know if the newer BIOS needed for some would support OCing, Intel shut it down at some point.

that's an early stepping/CPU. I guess OEM/tray CPU as it's not listed in the wikipedia list which is evidently incomplete.

Took a chance on an untested RF X48, socket looked good in the images, the 8 pin CPU connecter still had the 4 pin cap in place and the battery was Asus provided. Dropped a E6700 and a couple sticks of RAM posted right up. Replaced the battery, set date & time BIOS errors disappeared. 74$ shipped not an outstanding deal but a lot better than the asking price for the others I was looking at. Fluid @ 10c Added Here it is ready for the closet, till I have a reason to get it out.

Been going through the closet, hitting every one I know up for hardware as well as a few Ebay purchases getting ready for this fall. Bottom row left to right Gigabyte 6600 GT MSI 8600 GT PNY 9400 GT EVGA GTX 295 Pair of MSI 8800 GTS 320s Next row up right to left Pair of EVGA 8800 GTS 640s Sapphire 4780 X2 Asus 4870 Pair of BFG 8800 GT 512s Asus 5770 Motherboard is EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI (132-CK-NF79-A1) to see if it would SLI a few Quadro pairs I’ve been unable to get to work in either X58 board I’ve tied. Only had one pair work in an Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe so hoping the nForce chipset is the key, cpu is going to be a Xeon X3370, 20 bucks cheaper than a 9650. Used to have a 4870 x2... it died as most of them do, to heat issues.

Still have the card, cores clock a little higher than average, mem is average, room ambient might look a little better in the garage and winter temps.

Been awhile since I've gotten excited about a new hardware release, more so after reading a review of the 7900 at OCC (US) where the chip was besting a 12900 in most tests (both stock), I couldn't resist. CPU going to end up in the daily in the future, board strictly for abuse.

^ Watch out on the mounting of the Cooler. youtube guys are going nuts about how many AM4 coolers are not compatible.
also Debauer already lapped one and got near 20 degrees... interesting video.
Can't wait to see what you do with one of these.

I imagine some coolers are not compatible its not a AM4 socket its AM5 a LGA socket I imagine the top of the CPU is probably not the same height as before. Its about time AMD upgraded their sockets no more socket crush when you tighten a Pot down tight plus LGA connects better electrically.

Its about time AMD upgraded their sockets no more socket crush when you tighten a Pot down tight plus LGA connects better electrically. apparently that is the problem. they made the die 1.5-2mm thinker to keep compatibility with AM4 coolers. But the caveat is, if the cooler comes with a backplate then it's a no-go. Has to be able to top mount on the stock hold-down.

Roman delidded the cpu With laping there is not much to gain. IHS is TOO thick.

Read a little bit about the cooler problem, from what I saw water cooling not a problem as it would use studs like Intel S2011 and after. If the back plate is like previous ones can pass long screws through which happen to match the thumb screws from the Koolance products that I use.
I saw the socket change scared me; most here know what I do to Intel sockets.

The thicker plate is good for the cold temps. Don't take it off, it's stupid. Chips hard wall pretty bad anyways. Roman delids for profits. AMD was stupid to go LGA. Things change. I dred swapping chips. Speaking of which, picked up a G6900. Pretty fast little chip for sure. I like it.
