I must not have picked an early enough version Vin. So far my hardware is just not compatible missing SSE2 instruction sets. No biggie. Rather leave the OS as plain jane as possible. Did some more pushing for a max clock on TEC. I could not keep stable enough to validate 2.751Mhz. THINK have one for 274xMhz however, won't know until I go upstairs and check. That said, I've been able to run the 5/6 divider and the 6/6 or 1:1 divider at these frequencies. Seems good either way, very happy with end results thus far. Note to self (all) that when voltage set at 2.2v it may be best to have and maintain at least -20c temps or forget it. Had a little restart scare at 2.2v where bios loaded a single blue line across the bottom. Seemingly in bios while Num lock and caps lock flashed the lights when presses, but ummm, can't see anything. I did a short bios reset and all is good. By no means frozen or condensation at these speeds, the minimum I post is 1.9xxv and the block and cpu won't freeze, but maintain lower than ambient temps even on a load. Had a running operating system that mostly (hung) still screen. Typically this means I'm low volted. at that 2.2v the Cpu over-powers my TEC cooling and just won't make a higher clock in this fashion. Good stuff though. Very decent board. Scotty? could you kindly hand pick a bios for me. I'd like what's best for a high cpu speed oh, and please have a .txt with proper instructions. I do not have a floppy drive I don't think. cables yes, drive I'd need to dig a little.....

Abit flash utility will flash that from the desktop I always use it with NF7

Really? you can flash from desktop? That's actually pretty sweet!! Thank You!!
Edit: I am running W7 32bit starter. Is not service pack one btw. .... Thought Cpu-z displayed SP revisions...?

I'm glad to hear you're happy with it - Told ya Burnee was a good one.

I also said the chip was good, now there's proof of that too.
I knew that chip would be a good one, I'm just glad it tested as OK and wasn't hurt by the board you had it in.
I know it will take time to get a few good chips for Burnee but once you do you'll really enjoy it.

I will link you to my OneDrive for Abit flash utility and a couple bio's. Message incoming.

The AN7 is one of my all time favorite motherboards. So much fun to play with especially when you've got decent hardware on it.

@scotty, I've recieved your PM and DL'ed the file. Again thank you. Bones, you must have tested the cpu a little bit over stock clocks then lol. The board and chip really do like each other. Memory too. Not a single issue with memory. Seems I can clock it as high as I want with little effort. I have to ask though, what's the deal with the third memory slot? I've yet to actually read the manual for this board.... lazy me I guess lol. zila1, I can see why it's a favorite. It's just all around solid.

Actually no I didn't, I could tell by the date and stepping of the chip it was probrably good. The 3rd slot can be used too but the outer-most slot (One that's kinda away from the others) with the one next to it is for dual channel operation.

3rd slot for pairing single channel ram, e.g using two sticks without the "other" dual channel RAM slot. In some cases could run higher clock on RAM, overall performance not improving. Can't recall if nforce2 still runs dual channel with all three slots populated. One thing was that if all three slots were populated, could not run high clocks on RAM(something like down to 333MHz from 400MHZ ddr). Some say this improved with the Ultra chipset and latter Bartons?

I believe that's right George - You'd know as well as I about it. Been awhile since I've even thought about it, I just pop the sticks in and away we go.

I've run three sticks of RAM on nForce2 before and had it running dual channel and it's likely that I had a dual rank 1GB stick paired with a couple of 512MB single rank sticks. No comments on performance advantages or disadvantages though as it was for a daily machine and the chief benefit was more RAM...

Let's say, you could run 2x512 on the first channel and then a 1 gig stick in the second channel for dual channel mode. But it wasn't an ideal config and wasn't a good clocking setup. But guys did that all the time especially when they had a "good" board".

Awesome feed back. So some additional questions about that memory slot.... 1. Can I run a single stick in that slot by it'self? 2. already answered maybe... but would having more than 512mb of memory help with say WPrime 1024m? 3. Would it be best to run a single stick in (any) memory slot for a higher cpu-z validation? Bones , Oh, I had thought maybe you'd have tested it a little bit beyond stock... I would have !! You did mention what to look for in steppings and dates, so I will try to familiarize myself with it when I do look for some new/used processors. Now I thought I had seen processors on newegg as far back as s754, s939 for sure. Gonna take a look next time I get a chance, I'm not at a proper desk to do so atm. But I swear I've seen them for sale other than e-bay.... but don't quote me on that. EDIT: BTW Rodney, I saw some submission with this 2400+ that aren't correct. Submissions 16 and 17. My cpu-z above is .01 mhz faster, however the sub was posted at 2741.6 while the cpu-z is actually 2741.56 Mhz while mine is 2741.57Mhz. So when I submit, (if I do the above...) should I use .61 Mhz? How am I supposed to legitimally beat these peopple. Submissions 16 looks like a missing link there, no validation to cpu-z database. Should I report it???

You can run a single stick in any slot, and yes, a single small stick will most of the time clock higher. All your other questions have been answered correctly by the guys above.

you could at least scrape off or use black marker to hide the ASUS logo on the NB. lol Edit: Bones , Oh, I had thought maybe you'd have tested it a little bit beyond stock... I would have !! Yeah, for #16 I'm pretty sure a valid link from the CPUID Validator would have been required, even back in 2006. Report it!
