Sorry if I always post about el caminos. It's only because I have one haha.
My old man's buddy had 3 of them back in the day. I bought the last one he had left which happened to be a mild street rod. I've always had a love for these trucks. There's just nothing else on the road like them and always turns heads.

Oh no, don't apologize. I love El Camino's. You're right on that too..........there is nothing else on the road like them. Sharp looking vehicles. Especially when they've got some muscle under the hood. My old boss had one. Don't remember what year it was but he had a 350 fuel injected engine in it with I think a 4-speed manual trans in it. It was fast. would burn rubber for a block. He once turned day into night in front of the parts warehouse with it. No catalytic convertors, straight pipe out the back. Nice.

I gotta carb to rebuild yet. Spring is coming.... I gotta get rolling on that. My dodge needs a head gasket, so I'm going to need to jump on projects soon. Will likely order the Left rear quarter this year and install that, do the front left quarter, but might be able to straighten that out, has a good crease in it though. Bought it with the body issues lol. Right side rear I can probably slap a patch panel on it. I'm hoping 2020 strip the trip off and get it painted or paint it myself. Haven't decided. I'm not a great painter, but I have the equipment, just need the paint. Then I'll do the interior. Gotta get all the gauges working again and repair the roof. Some guy cut a hole and stuffed a moon roof in it. Doesn't look bad, but it doesn't fir properly and leaks. I may repair it or patch the hole. Haven't really decided on that yet. I kinda like the mood roof actually.....
Once I'm done with the body work, I may look for a motor and tranny swap, likely a 325 LT or LTZ motor. If I could find an SS Tahoe from a wreck, that's probably the way I'll go with it. Most people do the LS swap, but I like the truck motors. They usually pack a little more torque for hauling loads.

Had a 69 El Camino with a 402 4 speed for about 6 months. Was totally enamored with it at the time. 3 months into it I realized what the real condition of it was, and sold it to recoup my cash while it still looked good. Car was a beast, just too much hack job work already done to it to make it worth keeping.

What a shame. I hate when things like that happen and I'm no stranger to it either.

Seen a Yenco Nova in that clip. 427 powered, very rare.

Oh man, horsepower is crazy now what with all the new technologies. Engines are so tight now. Yeah, We sure have come a longs way. My stock NA SOHC escort HO motor had about 120hp at 1.9l with just a map, single o2 and batch fire MEFI, my 2019 fiesta's 1.6l DOHC motor with VVT, sequential port injected EFI and every censer known to man has 120hp. All that modern tech netted me the same HP with .3 less displacement. /s Now don' get me wrong the fiesta motor is way more smooth running and gets a smidge better MPG. The Escort's motor runs like a industrial blender with bricks being chucked into it witch has only gotten worse with bike carbs, a massive lumpy cam and being board and stoked. The escort motor is pushing about 150hp now and the open diff in the trans just can't keep up with it. Been working on upgrading the brakes, wheel/tires and front suspension in a desperate attempt to help alleviate the limitations of the open diff. There is no drop in LSD for US 80s escorts or I drop one in.
