OK, so I tried to fire up my DFI Lanparty 462 board. It's giving me some troubles. And it has obvious reasons to why. (See pic below) I'm in need of someone's services. I can pay the shipping and labor and parts. It needs caps badly. But I'd like to upgrade them to Solid caps to give it longevity. And I want ALL of the caps done. Not just the bad ones. However if you don't think this is a wise idea, then I'm all for replacing the caps needed and not upgrading them. However I really would like sold caps. It's a badass board and solid caps will make it that much better. Anyone up to the task?? I can do it, but I want someone with a lot more experience than myself and has all the means to be sure all goes well. I have a solder gun and torch and the crude tips that come in the kits none specific in terms of doing smaller solder joints like in tight areas on a motherboard.

I don't have any solids but I do have the same ones like that - A box full of them in fact. I'd also suggest doing all since they are of equal age and runtime, no telling when the next bad one will appear but usually one right after another.
I'll see if anyone else has the solids but I can if need be but they will be the same kind if I have to do them. BTW the ones I have would be for the CPU power circuit,if wanting a complete recapping of the entire board that may be beyond what I have to do it with.

Those caps are 3300uf 6.3v the biggest solid caps in 6.3v are 1500uf if there was more caps than 1 per phase I would say the 1500 ones would be good but seeing as there is not I would probably stick with the same electros either Chemicon, Nichicon or Sanyo brands. Or you could piggyback another 3 1500uf solids onto the legs where they stick through the back of the board so you are using 6 1500uf solids. Rodney would probably do that for you. Unfortunately I am too far away.

I did not know that about solid caps Pete. Thanks for the heads up.
Rodney, let me know what I would owe you for the caps and labor and I'll send cash with the board.
I wouldn't mind a total recap of the entire board. Like I said, I can send you the money to get any or all the caps you need and to replace the ones you have in the box too.

Is that an Ultra A or B board? I don't have a complete assortment to redo the entire board but do have what's needed to at least fix the problems shown and the ones I have are Sanyo caps. I'm not worried about charging you anything for doing it but I know I don't have the $$ to buy the extra caps. Would probrably need to look at one of mine and just use it as a reference for what I need.

I wouldnt be worried about capping the whole board just the VRM output caps and maybe a close inspection of the caps at the south end of the memory slots next to the mosfet sets there its another VRM there too. All other regulators on the board are linear regulators they aint to hard on caps. VRMs' output a sawtooth wave and the caps smooth it they work hard on VRMs.

Gotcha - Got all the VRM caps it will ever need. The rest would at least need looking over because caps as they age can swell even if just sitting. I suggest doing all the VRM caps at least as Pete suggested. If that's all I'd need to worry about doing the board shouldn't be a big deal.
However...... Need to know what kind of timeline you're referring to, as in are you wanting it done right away, in the near future or just whenever I'd have time.

No Rush at all Rod. I gotta get some CPUs out to Frank and if I got the cash send a GTX 580 to Pete. I'll try and mail it all at once. Not sure if I can send out this weekend, I gotta work, but next weekend looks clear.
I'll put some cash in the box for you.
