Yolla Bolly Frontiersmen Rendezvous 2018, this is my other hobby so figured I'd put up a few pic's. Gathering is the second largest in the state or what I heard, largest is held over on the coast but part of the national circuit. Have a few in the club that do the national level but the rules for attire, possibles and camping in the primitive areas are a lot more strict. The competitions are primarily centered around shooting and hawk & knife abilities. Categories include flint & percussion actions, smooth & rifled, long-gun and pistol, hawk & knife and BB gun, (for the younger folks) Lewis & Clark had an air rifle as part of their armament. Registration Few folks with a local Boy Scout Troop on the Hawk & Knife course

That is very awesome. Our Cub Scout Pack participates in these events also. I love the play out of history like this. It really helps get the feel of past times of what was to bring where we are now. The sites and smells, particularly the food and gun powder.
Thanks so much for sharing!

Thanks All! Shooting is the fun side, getting all the gear together is the bigger part of the hobby. Buying it can be a little costly, check out some of the prices on the powder horns (high end repos) generally a good horn is about $50-$100 but a raw horn is around $10 and with a little effort and time can be turned into a respectable piece. I did a lot of leather work when I was heavy into it, Burning Beard's war shirt as well as my moccasins, pants & coat are all my labor. My favorite is possible bags couple of my own below, horn on the left is mine, white one was a purchase. Working with seed beads something I've never been able to do well second image shows some fairly nice work with seed beads on some patch knife sheaths, third image shoulder, belt and neck pouches.
