I noticed they have really dropped lately. By as much as half or more from what they were this time last year. So, I bit. They will only go back up again for the holidays so I bit on it hard right now.
I got myself an EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW2 GAMING iCX video card. Evga had a discount code on there page on twitter combined with Newegg having a sale on it at the same time. $339.00. I thought that was a good deal for me. That will go into my Ryzen rig. Scottie turned me on to EVGA a couple years back and I'm hooked now. I love my GTX 1060 SSC but I want more gaming horse power now. And this will surely give it to me.

I'm a big EVGA fan, have every one that I bought new but a GTX 280 that lasted through 250 subs mostly PCMarks even replaced it with an EVGA.

I am not a fan unless its got Classified or Kingpin on it I have got 2 580's a 780Ti and a 970 all FTW and all very average. All still go though except one of the 580's but I killed that myself.

I likes the EVGA Step-up program. really bailed me out when I got my GTX480 and the 580 was release just a few weeks after... I was thankful of that program

Card just arrived. Nice. Fanciest card I've owned to date. Samsung vram, I'm a happy camper about that. This is a big, heavy, high quality video card. I am so excited right now.

Yup, I'm messin' around with it to see what it likes right now. I switched to the Slave(performance)bios to see how she goes. Core doesn't want to go too far but vram seems to want to go up a little bit. It's a fun card to play with. Lots of sensors.

This card is being a little stubborn. I had to change the thermal paste on it to drop temps a little more but it's not quite enough. I am going to invest in some of that new stuff Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. I was able to drop temps another 5 degrees with IC diamond. This card want to be below 50*C. The factory cooler is a really good but it needs a little help to perform at it's best. Slowly learning what she likes.
Edit: for now an hour of Heaven and a couple of hours of gaming and apparently stable. But I want her to run cooler than that on full load.

It may not. It's a hot chip. You're already at great temps. Those cards load in the 70's and 80's usually.

I noticed that right off Scotty. It is a hottie that's for sure. I've already tamed some of that heat. Before the tim change I couldn't get her below 60*C. I still have a couple tricks up my sleeve. I would like another 5 degree drop. It's a really strong card. I am loving it. I remember last year when this card was going for close to $1,000. I dreamt of having one and now here she is.
Edit: not that it "needs" the overclock. This puppy is plenty fast at stock.

Here we go Scottie. This would be more in line with the kind of cooling I would expect from this type of card/cooler combo. Tim used is Shin Etsu X23-7783D. I forgot I had it. Used the last little bit in the syringe. Gotta get some more of this stuff. Pea sized drop in the center and let heat sink pressure spread it. Easy peezy. Tried MX-4 and it just wouldn't help to cool at all. About 10*C higher temps with MX-4. IC Diamond faired better but only by 5*C lower. Shin Etsu wins the day here.

Yes, I think so too. I'm glad I found that tube of Shin Etsu. Awesome stuff. But application is very important. Can't have air bubbles in it. For this particular application it really did the trick.
Edit: 2100MHz core speed just won't be possible on this one though. I'm topped out on air apparently.

2100 is a lofty goal anyway. Gonna bench it? Doesn't have to be radical, just what you're comfortable with. A few points in the pocket for old times sake. lol

You just made me laugh. How did I know that question of benching it was coming up next??

Cause you know how I am? lol You know you want to check it out too. You can take the boy out of the bench, but you can't take the bench out of the boy.

Lol, I'm trying to picture a bench crammed up his ass and someone pulling it out.
Go Zila! Make a couple of points for old times sake.... which wasn't really that long ago.

I'm running Win10 on my DD. It's not setup for benching. It wouldn't be worth it. I don't have any benching rigs setup at all. Plus, I hate the bot.
Edit: here's a dirty run. My rig is just too cluttered.

Nice dual monitor setup.
We needn't excuses. We are only kidding... Unless you want to bench, I have some gear I could send you.. Just let me know. Wink.

Yep a couple of benches just for fun Eddie. W10 usually benches good you just need a futuremark link with it. When the bench finishes submit to futuremark and save the page address from the address bar to put in your sub.
