Nice house Jonnie. Perfect for your little family. When you get in there then you can personalize it. You're gonna make that place look sharp.

May keep family tradition and plant a couple of Crimson Kings. Beautiful color and grow nice and big for the shade.

Dry and hot summer been here, now gone seems. Mowed the lawn yesterday. It has been weeks since last mow, but now a fresh&green lawn.
If only these we call city rabbits would leave the yard alone. They keep digging everywhere on our yard.

Electric/battery powered mowers have become more efficient now, so went for a battery powered grass trimmer(weed whacker). A bit time consuming to mow with that but so much easier to handle and reach those difficult grass growth places. And it is a multi tool battery system

I finally got my head out of my own ass and figured out why my mower was stalling out. I kept having to pull the jet and clean it. So I tried adding an inline filter thinking debris was my problem. After 2 different types of filters I found that the fuel at the bottom of the tank jelled up and as causing a flow issue...
The mover is near 17yrs old. I didn't even think the fuel would have jelled up like that (I just use 87 Octane and winterizing is a myth... lol)... I pulled the line out of the tank and even though it was at 1/2 tank, nothing came out...
Pulled the tank, flushed with soap and water, rinsed with 99% Iso, dried for 30min in the sun.
This thing hasn't run this well in about 4-5 years. It would have a random putter and want to stall sometimes. I was thinking it was just the old plug..
So that's a win and my kids can now stop using excuses to mow the lawn when I'm away for work...
Our baby is due in about 7 weeks... Wifey isn't in shape to be mowing the grass... lol

Seems like just last week you gave us the news!! Man time flies. Good job on the mower repair too. Glad it was something simple.

Over here the fuel is 95 or 98/99 octane. The 95 contains 10%ethanol and the 98, 5%. Cannot leave either one standing for long times without using fuel conditioner. Otherwise the fuel will gel up or have white powder in the carb, neither is good for the jets. I use 98 octane and older machines do work better with that.
aww, Tecumseh 3.5, have one in the summerhouse storage, has not been run for some 10 years. It had good fuel economy and less noisy than a B&S.

The lawnmowers have been pushed into the shed, seem their task is over for this season over here Soon it is time to focus on tasks caused by other seasonal climate matters.

Nope still have a couple weeks left here. The trees just started shedding leaves. I mulch em up. I don't spend money on yard waste bags. Goes right back to the earth and my grass loves it.
I will ride my iron horse this weekend. It will snow on Tuesday they say, no accumulation.

I'm done. I put mine away for the season. I cut it real short last week and then cleaned the machine and the bag. Leaf blowers are put away as well as the trimmers.

Did mine yesterday (The lawn) and may have to do it once more before it's over with. We don't have the really cold winters like you guys do so there is almost nothing we have to do with winter prep aside from the effects of just sitting unused for an extended period of time.

Lawn season is on again and I do have a few things I want to do. Move the benchshack to another spot so later I can build an actual workshop/garage for things I need to do without kicking the wife's car out of the garage at my back door.
If the weather holds over the next few weeks and the ground isn't too soft I can go for it, just need to get what I need for the job and do it. This will be the time I'd also want to go through what I've got sinc eit's all out there and I'll need to empty the shack so there is as little weight as possible inside and nothing on the shelves to go "Boom" when it falls off.

Lawn season, right. Now need to put the snow gear a bit aside, for a while. Lawn will need a bit more care now due to a long winter.

Just remember these pics when you're done, you'll see all the work was worth it. Noted you guys are just now getting leaves on the trees so I know your growing season isn't as long as ours by any means, it's actually getting hot now but it will still be another month before it's HOT and you won't be ablew to do alot during the day, just in the morning and that's really about it - Late evening is the hottest part of the day at that time of year here.

We really haven't had a Spring here this year Bones. It's still too cold for seeds to take and the flowers and grass are having a hard time getting started. I just heard on the news that farmers around here are having a hard time as well. Too much rain and snow, fields flooded and too cold for seeds to start up. These weather patterns are really screwing things up. I went for a ride to get my meds the other day and the fields were pretty much flooded around here. Not good for our farmers.

Unless the weather patterns keep pushing the cold stuff down you guys should finally be getting some warmth in about a week or two tops - Can't speak for the wet stuff but the cold should be gone very soon. The fact your growing season is shorter doesn't help things, that much I do know.
It took us about three weeks to transition from cool/cold to warm with all the stormy stuff in between, once you work through the storms things should improve.

I wasn't kidding when I said I had some work to do on the mower. Battery cables were bad so went and got some of a larger gauge, that turned out fine and solved a stubborn cranking issue but the cable lug on the starter motor came out and was arcing while cranking it. Pulled the starter and turns out the retainer for the lug is plastic and of course it broke, it doesn't have a threaded stud with a nut inside like most motors would (And should) have.
Gonna have to either fix this one somehow or just get another starter motor.
EDIT: Figured out how to fix it if anything is going to work and I've already done the first step, had to use some Super glue (Gel) to reattach the lug to the plastic plate where it's supposed to be, that's holding well for now. Need to head to Lowes in the morning for a little brush-on LET to insulate the lug lead from the casing (To help prevent arcing), then I'll reassemble the starter.
Next step; I'll use some JB Weld on the lug area, to the lug's nut and motor casing itself to provide strength so it doesn't come apart again. This way the nut never moves, the lug itself never torques and I can get the cable on.

It's done and just waiting for the JB to set now. Found my LET and used it, did the rest and after tomorrow it should be ready to try.
Have pics of what I did too.

Update: The fix is done, it's installed and works great. Saved about $75 since I didn't have to buy a new starter for it.

Dandelion season has begun, the grass is green but have not received its 1st shave of the season yet, but very soon.
Had to patch a few places of the lawn, maybe this time the rabbits do not go and dig there as I put some "cover cloth" on it. Outdoor temp was close to 20'C today and a couple of short rain showers passed by earlier.

Now time to mow the lawn but.. rain ongoing and it seem like it is to go on for a couple of days, mower is still cold in the shed. Heard that mosquitos and ticks might thrive. Good thing maybe is that we have a lot of bird life around here this year, partly due to a lot of construction work and buildings being built nearby. Birds had to look for new places for this season, but food is plentiful around, for them.

Here was a thick fog or mist last night after the rain, but today sunshine. Lawn dried a bit, the youngster assisted with the push mower and elec trimmer. And of course, there was a bit of checking to do to get that B&S going, but it still works.

It's that WONDERFUL time of the year again...... Yea.... Not.
However the old mower did really well after having sat since last fall, fired right up no prob and cut the grass like a champ too. The grass (Weeds) had already been coming up so after I evicted Tarzan and his jungle crew from the yard all is well... Until next time.
Didn't get to service it before I cut the yard today, that's something I will need to catch up on first chance I get with all the hot-cold-wet-dry weather we have this time of year.

^Dandelion's spring lawn attack coming here soon too, no way to keep them at bay, they just keep coming. But yeah, working mowers will help a bit(not sheep or rabbits).

Yeah, had to go for it on short notice due to how the weather is here and right now rain is moving in, temps dropping too. That's for all day today, tomorrow it will be clear so you'd think it's fine to cut it then. The ditch next to the road gets really soft when it rains and I don't feel like pulling the mower out of that mess if I don't have to. It's just better that I don't, not to mention all the ruts it will create in the process.
Nope - Got it done and glad I did.
