Mowing season is already in full swing here. Grass is nice-n-green with ATM plenty of rain to make it grow, plus the now warmer temps and longer days helps it along.
Had to mow it yesterday and by this time next week it's gonna be the same as it was.

I mowed mine three times. I also over seeded and fertilized it.

I haven't touched my grass but the mower and equipment is ready. Not in a hurry to cut lawn honestly.

I love the smell of a freshly cut lawn. I leave my windows open so I can smell it from the house.

Many years ago, missus helped with the mowing, now she refuses to touch the lawn mower thing. Some manual garden tools she will use though for the flower garden. The young ones do help _when_ they have time, but I can not rest. Fear of plants & flowers being mowed and also the risk of themselves getting injured while handling the machine.

My oldest is 20 years old and he's pretty good on the mower. He knows what to cut and what not to cut. Howe very being lazy and not picking up trash, must be amusing to shred garbage in the lawn. Lol little fucker

I'm going to have to bring my mower to a local small engine mechanic. She needs a lot of work. Fuel line is leaking, spark plug cable is chaffed to hell... no tape will do it anymore. and I don't have the time to do it...
I'm travelling 2 weeks home and 2 weeks away until at least September now.. with this covid stuff I have to isolate for 6 days then get a test before I can hang out with my family for a week before going back out...
This project has been going on 2 years... this tail end is going to suck....

Alright then, around here the most anxious ones have fired up their lawn mowers for the season by now. Spring is about one week late compared to a normal spring. Tree leaves have not sprung yet but is happening as I post this. Today temp rose close to +25°C and continues for a day or two.
People are very quick to wear shorts, T-shirt or a summer dress and likely flip-flops. (I can not figure out why anyone would wear flip-flops while driving or bicycling, it is just silly. Or when cutting grass for that matter) Did a small amount of garden maintenance today, if time allows I will try to start-up the Green Cyclone mower tomorrow to see if there is any life in it, has not been run in a few years. Expect some work on the carburetor.

Had time to try out the Green Cyclone Think it has been sitting for 6-7 years. Cleaned the floater cup, cleaned the spark plug, checked oil level. The old fuel in the cup and system smelled really awful, expired turpentine. Tank was dry, added a bit of gasoline from last year. It needed a few pulls, but eventually started and kept running. So, did a small round and cleared 2/3 of the yard. This one is too heavy to move along slopes. This model seem to be found in different configurations, YT9107-n Chinese 173cc, 190cc, 196cc and Briggs&Stratton. The 173cc model appear be 6,5hp and IIRC this 190cc is 8hp. Cold start needs 3-5 pulls, I think it is due to it does not have a primer like many mowers do have one.

Wife had a mobile small engine repair guy come out and fix ours. turns out it was just the pull cable that was bad. I was sure there was air getting in the fuel line. but 1 cable later and she's all good.

my lawnmower is giving me issues again. it'll start. but won't stay running (will run for 5 Sec). If I push the primer ball it'll keep running. Fiddle the choke it will low idle but won't high idle. I'm guessing either a fuel line air leak or the carb needs new seals...
Thoughts? These things aren't that complicated.. it's gotta be something stupid

found a few vids on it may be the bowl jet being clogged. I'll take a look at that tomorrow.

Yep check bowl jet, clean the bowl also, any small grime there will clog the jet. Also check if there is any water in the gasoline, symptoms you describe seem to match also.

It was the Jet, though it didn't look like anything was clogging it. with a small wire I cleaned out the holes and sprayed brake cleaner (all I had) and after it ran fine.
I'd already put in fresh gas. but there is debris in the tank that I cannot get out. wondering about putting a small inline fuel filter in to help prevent this issue moving forward. Thoughts?

Yes seen debris in the tanks of our mowers too. Has not caused any major issues, yet. Seem to stay in the tank and dissolve over time. Using a fuel conditioner is of great help also when having fuel stored for a longer time. But yeah, if it is easy to find a place on the line where to put it, and leak free, guess it is just a plus.
On topic of starting mower, pulled out our old B&S machine which has always started&run like clockwork. Today it did not, was worried the carb had dried up hard, but not, checked the old original spark plug, hmm a bit sooty, gave it a clean, put it back, voila! Started immediately.

I had an older mower with a Kholer engine. It required a high flow filter. The paper filter was too restrictive and after the filter emptied, the engine would stop. Literally watch the filer fill back up and mow for 10 minutes more lol. That was a pain in the ass, let me tell you. So if you put a paper filter on, and it stops running, get a screen mesh inline filter and that issue will go away.

Nice corner there, Shrimp! In our neighborhood, owners have to put lot of effort to keep the lawn somewhat in good shape Hope it works for well for you. Hope so too. It's a big yard. I'll have to take some better pictures, but to the left I can put another house of the same size on the property. My 07' Craftsman 42" deck should make short work of it though. I guess about 30 minutes, there's few obstacles.
