Scotty just had another look at your card and I notice its got the six slave drivers on the back so the six phases are populated your VRM should handle a bit of voltage no worries. Mine has the 2 middle phases missing it was only 4 phases hence the blowup.
Jesus Jr I didnt think you wanted it back I will get you another.

I figure 1.2v or so won't hurt me.

Haha madman So it's best not to loan you guys stuff Depends on who you're dealing with. Most of us 'family' guys send our stuff out knowing what could potentially happen to it. It is a risk we all understand going in. I'm sorry if anybody misled you away from that.

Absolutely humor Why I like emotives for setting the mood. Funny as mac's has the solder melting on the gpu from the first run ... how good are the e-powers? _____ Having a hard time on the 7350K ... not good IMC, so I've battled for a while. Other scores in front of me on old 3D benches are quad cores. Shopping again later

Just a note: Ditching the stock cooler for aftermarket air netted me 30c lower temp at load and 40 more MHz core. Still need to mod and then chiller. This card ain't so bad. The stock cooler strangles it.

Another quick observation: This card is exactly, and I mean exactly, the same as my 275 FTW card. If there were no stickers on them you wouldn't know which was which.

The stock cooler strangles it. planing on running your AC water chiller? Do you have a PID controller on that unit to not get below 20C? mine is setup for all or nothing, so I'll likely be on air once I get there. I might adapt an H100 to it or maybe a custom water cooler if it arrives on time. I'm expecting a BFG MaxCore 55 to arrive next week. I think it's a 216 core.. Vin

Maxcore 55 is a 216 card. My chiller is all or nothing also. The way around it is to run a short bench to get above 20c and THEN start HWmon and your comp bench. Under load you will not drop under 20c again.

Ozz, run that 5 gig Z97 rig. The two graphics benches are all about the vid card, and Geekbench is a single core contest. The only bench you would get hurt on is x265. You only need to run three out of four benches.

Seems I'm a bit rusty... I spent 30 min trying to adjust the DRAM ratio on a Xeon X5560 to no avail... had me really scratching my head, thinking something was wrong with my EVGA Classified3 (e770).. wifey calls me up for dinner and while eating I remember the memory strap is locked on server gear... DOH!!!
It has been way too long... bloody hell...
currently struggling to get this xeon past 23x158 right now... this board IS acting funny. i somehow eventually "brick" it and windows on boot keeps popping up the install progress bar and then a re-boot/boot-loop, I've never seen anything like it... doesn't matter what I do, only way to fix it, is to power down, CMOS reset and then manually key in my settings to my last good known settings... I can't use a saved profile as even with the profile I have as my "default" it's still screwed. re-using the profile after cmos reset it is still screwed. never seen anything like it...
I had easier time getting to 23x185 on the Gigabyte UD3R, but this EVGA board should be way more capable. it does have a whole slew of setting the gigabyte board doesn't have. many I have no clue what they do (yet)... granted overclocking on this evga board is new to me, I've never really overclocked on it before. when I had my 980x on it, I just got it up a bit and was happy and never pushed it...
this one is going to be a rough start... lol

You will get there Vin things will fall into place as you go. I have the same problem when I get hardware out that I havent used in a long time.

This and sometimes if it hasn't been ran in awhile it can be stubborn - I run into that quite often with pieces that have sat for awhile. Don't worry, you'll get it working like it's nothing before you know it.

just a guess vinnie, , ive got that progress bar and boot loop situation many times when ive had it set wrong, appears that its unstable to me or a boot setting wrong maybe I thought so initially, but that wasn't the case. I've found that turning off Intel Speedstep (WHY !!! ) contributes to the issue. I had speed step off in the past on this very cpu, but on this MB it adds to this issue. I'm still trying to figure out what one thing I'm doing that's ultimately causing this issue. I'm still stuck at that clock. Tonight if I have time I'll turn off some cores for geek, I think I've heard it's single threaded, but still have to check. see if that helps with my issue. Vin

My BFG GTX 260 MaxCore 55 arrived yesterday. I was able to pop it in and give it a quick test. I'm able to update to adjust the clocks in windows with EVGA Precision (my app of choice for that generation) but I'll try it with MSI Afterburner as it's my current app of choice.
I quickly ran 3DM06 and it looked good, didn't get a score as I forgot to enter my serial and this PC doesn't' have an internet connection right now.
next week I'll do the stock clock benching to at least get subs in.
Then I'll continue to get this CPU bench sorted out and hope in Mid-May to get the big benches sorted out.
It's been a while since I've been excited to bench... feels good.
