I came up with a way to delid safely with mine and so far it's worked 100% of the time. I can now delid a chip in about a minute or two if I really want and the blade does make a difference along with the depth you sink the blade into the CPU for removal, that's the biggest obstacle you'll face and Which side of the lid you are working on is important too based on exactly what chip you're delidding.
I use a blade thats one of the smaller razors you breakoff sections of it as it's used and it's long enough to do a side and thin enough to make the cut, not to mention exactly half the depth of the blade is about right as a guide to know when to stop going in further.
I'll take it and first set the CPU into my vice, start on one particular side of a CPU and using something like a wrench I'll actually carefully tap it to start the cut on one corner and level the blade off as I go bearing in mind not to let any part of the blade get any deeper than halfway into the cut. Once I see it about halfway into the lid across the lengh of the side I'm working on I'll stop, remove it and repeat the process on the next side. I'll do that to three sides and once done I'l take a flat head screwdriver and use that to leverage up the lid and simply peel the lid off to finish removal. On one side of the CPU the blade can get too close the the internal components and thats the side I won't do and with the other three sides done is when I peel the lid off to keep from hurting it that way.

Was the thermal paste in horrible condition on Your chips too ? I'm really courios about Your expeience. Lowering the temperature delta is the only way to gain clocks sometimes. Thermal paste was almost dry, but contact seems not to be bad.

Nah, you only gotta hold it for a couple seconds. Just long enough to discharge the caps. Then you just leave the board sit for a little while. Anyplace from 30 sec to overnight. Whatever it takes.

well thank christ the venus is ok, was the bios chip, if id lost the venus i wouldve started smashin stuff im sure, pete brought his chip over and tried it, booted up straight away, tried to flash my chip and tried it again and no go, wouldnt even boot to the dfi logo like b4, so its in the rubbish now where it belongs, and he gave me an ultra D as well, pretty humbled actually, he wont take any money, so i buy him stuff that i think may be of use to him for whatever, its the only way i can repay him for what he does for me, the help i get here and on the forum with everyone else here is truly appreciated, thankyou all
