Wanted to try out the 8350 I got the other day.....
Can't get it to do anything in any board I try it in and the same is true for another card I've been testing, the other being a known "Good" card. Doesn't matter what board/socket I try it and the other one in, fan comes on but no video output. I can however place a card that doesn't require external power to run and so far all have worked with it.
Could be both cards are dead or I've missed something related to power requirements.
Boards I've used to test so far are an AN7, Socket 754 LanParty, Socket 939 LanParty NF3 250 and an A7N8X Deluxe 2.0, all being AGP slot boards.
I've checked the boards and there is no external power plug/header that I can tell. Also tried yet another card that requires external power and it did work in the Socket 754 LP so it's not the board's AGP slot being dead at least.
Suggestions?

AGP slots can be tricky for contact try lifting the card a 1/16 of and inch in the socket wouldnt be the first time I have seen AGP cards go too far in.

So far it hasn't worked but will continue with it. Contacted the seller and he was really cool about it, in fact we got to talking and turns out he's kinda into our OC'ing thing.
I referred him to this site and maybe he'll pop in.
Also we worked things out and he refunded half of it, he did say he'd refund the entire price and for me to just keep the card but I coudn't do that, woudn't be fair at all so I said half of it would do. So.... If it works that's great but if not I haven't lost much, I'll keep messing around with it and maybe it will start working again and if not, perhaps a good baking may revive it.

That's cool - He did say he had alot of questions about OC'ing in general, I know between all here we can get him headed in the right direction.
EDIT: Spoke to him later and he said he had yet to register so I don't know who did.

Update: Tried a reflow of the card with the airwand, the card's fan went from running all the time to running when the system is started then it stops period. The reflow attempt changed something about it, not sure what but the card is still acting dead regardless.
Bummer about it all is this is the second one I've bought and both cards have shown themselves as bad. I know the first one is 100% dead, this one I haven't called it dead just yet and will keep messing around with it.

HD3850 and HD4670 are easy to find on Fleabay if you want to pay for them. Scotty's 7800GS AGP is hard to find.
There are 2 boards for AGP benching Asrock AM2NF3-VSTA Takes quad core Phenoms Asrock 4CoreSata2 Takes 775 chips the desirable chip is QX9650 because bus speed is limited to around 300mhz

Which combo is better? AM2NF3 and a quad Phenom, or 4CoreSata2 and a Q or QX chip? And how much difference is there between the two, AGP 3D benching wise?

Personally I prefer the AM2NF3 its easier to setup and runs better. The QX is gimped in bus speed and Mem speed I know it wont get to the clockspeed the Phenom can cold and the bus and mem speed is gimped with it so I prefer the AMD setup On water they are pretty even what the QX lacks in its bus speed it makes up for with better IPC you just have to look at the SPI times of the of 2 chips in any board.

That's all I needed to hear. I already own an AM2NF3. Was thinking about getting the other board. I won't bother now.

Never tried the AMD board, used the SATA2 with a X6800 around 315-320 FSB range which is a little weak for 1:1 DDR2. Picked up a Pentium E6500K just for the SATA2 but board died before I got around to using it. The Qx9650 works pretty good remember someone subing in the 4.2 range but personally never thought the board was up to a quad core.
