so I busted out the Z270 gaming 3 I got from the in house comp decent little mobo the socket holder I had to loose to get my 6700k in there without knocking the IHS off (IHS isnt glued back on so I can change paste easy) it kept trying to push it off when I would lock it down so I loosened the screws a little and locked it down and tightened them back down a little board popped right on auto Vcore was giving the CPU 1.3v for stock clocks I locked it in at 1.25v and tried 4.4ghz it crashed so I locked in 1.3v ran 4.4ghz fine to boot to windows and use XTU stress test on 7 gonna take the X99 out this week sometime and swap the x99 so it can go out to RMA along with GTX 980 so Ill be listing pros and cons of this mobo incase someone was looking to buy a cheap Z270 mobo they would have some info so far so good its gonna be a real life saver while X99 is down

I have one of those Z270 Gaming 3's but it was really not great for benching.
1st, Uncore is locked to a maximum of 300MHz below the core frequency. 2nd, It doesn't oc the memory very well, the best I could do was about 3200 12-12-12. Though that could've been on me since I don't think I bumped up the VCCSA or VCCIO. 3rd, No Asmedia SATA, thus no Win XP unless you add in AHCI drivers somehow.
I ended up getting a Z170M OCF instead, which of course works flawlessly.

You are probably using a Z170 XP install which does not work on Z270 different sata driver you can download the Z270 XP sata drivers from HWBot forums.

Could just be the lower ambient temps now though since this chip is very temp sensitive. That was meant for Drago not you about he cant install XP. It was just a budget board I wasnt expecting anything from it. It doesn't have IDE sata which is why. I tried numerous Z270 XP iso's but they all BSOD when loading.

No Z270 PCH has IDE sata you are installing XP in AHCI and all Z270 PCH chips are the same. When you make your USB Key up are you using the right Intel Sata SKL and Firahelper if not it will bluescreen they are different to the Z170 ones also it doesnt matter what XPiso you use as long as the USB key is set up right it should install
