Got this one going a few days ago. The board strangles the mems though, won't go higher than 3200 and I know they will 3600 C14 without much trouble. DR4G00N \ i3 7350K - LGA 1151 \ 5200MHz \ 12019

Don't have enough stuff here to even come close and time is kinda restricted too for me. I guess I'm done even though I could improve a few scores if I had time but I don't. Good luck Mr. Pumpkin Mac.

For all the 775/771 chips I have, the only quads are an E5310 & E5345. DR4G00N \ E5345 - LGA771/775 \ 3220MHz \ 6519 Chip and ram still have a good amount left in them, didn't have much time to tweak.

some fire works. some sparks top of the motherboard on my MSI P45 PLATINUM
1.62 vcore and tried to push q6600 upto 4ghz. it was ok upto 3900+ and then sparks started(below top heat sink), must be vrms on the top. after that shut down and removed cpu and tried to start but system starts for 1 or 2 seconds and shuts down immediatly and loop continues.(does the same with cpu also). hope i can get it repaired. don't have any other good 775 board(have TP43HP BIOSTAR-max fsb around 400 my ocz reaper ram won't work with it). unless this board revive, i can't run X5460.
past experience, with PENTIUM 4 640 on GA-G41M COMBO pushed to 4.3ghz and had similar issue and it was successfully repaired locally for around 6 usd.
so optimistic about getting it repaired.

Does not sound good ksateaaa23 ... something broke. 1.62v does sound alot to me, but I'm not used to 775 socket that much. Think I've tried up to 1.48v for 3.8Ghz OC

i wouldnt call it a lot at all, id do that on air and have done many times, when youre up into the 1.7v thats gettin up there, on water, i think K is water, id say over the years the board has been good to K its just a little tired in areas and the vrms have given up, K has never been one for big voltages in or on any sub ive seen him sub for his scores, i dunno his secret but he seems to get the scores without the big volts , its just bad luck for him and it always happens to your best board , especially when youve only got 1 good one in the whatever platform, as pete said the msi werent that good in that era but hes obviously got and had a good one, @ K , if it is a vrm and not the pcb damaged where the short is and you can get a vrm replaced for $6, get them all replaced coz i reckon another could go if you dont, coz over time the heat they produce does diminish their efficiency of operation, just like it does, ok you could buy another board whether the same msi or another maker of board but you dont know what youre gunna get, at least this way you know what board it is and what it does, a new set of vrms is a new board pretty much, just a suggestion

You mean you coudn't replace the MOSFET? Chances are if I had it I probrably could if I had a replacement fet BUT also depends on how bad it burnt the board itself. From what I'm seeing, if all it did was to fry the fet itself replacement is possible at least. BTW that's the very reason I made a heatsink for the fets on my DFI Infinity Dark. Didn't come with one originally but it had holes for it so I did the deed.
