With a blck of 106.6mhz using the 3200Mhz strap I'm at 3414Mhz on the RAM and currently running Memtest86. I had tried the 3333mhz strap with 100mhz blck but it failed? why would that strap fail, but I can blck up past that memory freq? just using this small cooler I don't want to blck up any more. I'm still at 1.3vcore. but idle this puppy is at 32 degrees. with this small cooler this is heaven to me... with my big cooling loop, idle on my 980x is 40-45 degrees... Vin EDIT: got some errors... backed off the blck back to 105 and upped the DRAM voltage from 1.35 to 1.375. re-started the testing 3200 was the highest mem strap they were supposed to have even though the motherboard manufacturers give you higher now, all the early bioses only went to 3200. Higher straps tend to be unstable. You should know this if you are reading the guides on the Web

Higher straps tend to be unstable. You should know this if you are reading the guides on the Web I consider guides as guides and not bibles. also many of the ones I found and was reading were early after the release and many bios updates ago. I haven't found a guide that is recent. I spend quite a bit of time in Elmor's thread, lots of details there and that's where I got the idea of the DRAM startup boost of 1.4v. that thread is also 2000+ pages long. it would take a lifetime to get through all that. so I pulled what I could. Looking through the bot, I see a lot of people at or above 3400mhz and their strap is 3:xx, where as mine is a straight 1:16. I'll have to play with the strapping more to see which strap is what ratio. I looked for a strap ratio chart but couldn't find one. but once I have my system fully up with water cooling I'll be a little braver with temps and I'll get through that for myself. I also dug out a few spare drives and will be setting up a OC drive so I can play with this more without risking my 24/7 OS. Vin
