My brother lives there and it looks like they might get hit. Then I have more family in Florida. And that ain't looking good either. Two big beasts coming in so close together is pretty unusual but here we go.

At least with a hurricane you know it's coming and can at least decide to stay or go. It gives you a couple of days to prepare. Tornadoes scare the hell out of me. Totally unpredictable with hurricane strength winds and rains that kill within a couple minutes time and you can't run from them. By the time you hear the storm sirens it's usually too late. I was caught in one once. I will never, ever forget the experience. All of it is scary stuff dudes.

Keeping an eye on it myself, if it heads our way it can cause problems here as well. Last nasty one we had come through was Ivan in 04, that did it's fair share of damage around here with power out for weeks in certain places. With so many trees around we'll see a literal forest on the ground and will take months to get it all cleared up like it was then. Stay safe guys and get out of the way if you can.
Lived through a tornado myself, in fact did so out in the open while it was tearing the house apart less than 150 ft away from me and nearly took me for a ride to boot. Was on me before any warnings were sounded and had only a few seconds to realize what was going on and what to do and in my case it was GTFO.... NOW!! So I did or it probrably would have collapsed the roof of it on top of me along with a few trees coming in to visit.
Was over in a matter of seconds too, believe it or not I never saw the funnel once during all this and once it passed the wind died down just as suddenly as it had picked up..... then all was calm as if nothing had happened at all. I could smell the turpentine from all the pines it had broken up and others it had knocked over, took a fairly large water oak and it was on it's side completely right at the front of the house I was in.

I know exactly how you felt at that moment buddy. In my case the tornado actually jumped right over where I was and destroyed several mile worth of property causing damage in the high millions as it did so. I couldn't believe that that sucker actually picked up a car and put it on top of a 40 foot oak tree. Leaving the car without a scratch on it. It was only damaged when they tried to remove it. There were nails, gravel and aluminum siding embedded in trees in a nearby park and absolutely no damage at all just 50 ft. away.
Hurricanes are super scary as they just continue to build ominous power of destruction, massive walls of water and to add insult to injury can turn around and hit you all over again. Nasty. And Hurricanes can spawn tornadoes as well. This looks to be a very active Hurricane season coming up.
I will be praying for everyone in the path of this nasty monster.

maybe the authorities in the us take a different view on how to deal with this than here in ozzland, they say board up, to me that creates more resistence for the winds to hit and a more solid object to blow wind force against and possibly blow, suck the house/ building away , here its suggested to open all windows and doors to let the wind thru so theres less resistence to the force, sure youre gunna get rain damage , weve all seen it hit some houses and the house next door is not even touched or damaged, this is the same here with our cyclones, some get hit , some dont, whether its classified as a cyclone, tornado or hurricane its all damage they cause , what do you guys think

My mom lives in Cape Coral. thats cool hope she stays safe like I said I will stay up late 2-3am and watch the storm track it shifted north a little but started back west again plus its moving so dang slow only 9mph which can be bad if its that slow moving means its got more time to drop more rain which causes flooding and all that crap wish I had my video camera I would record some of it LMAO
