Don't have the glasses needed to see it directly so I'll be recording it with my vid cam. I will be using the cam's viewfinder screen to see it as it happens and I'll be able to see it again once it's done. Just a suggestion but if you don't have the glasses like me then you can do this - You just need to set the cam's exposure ot the right setting and you'll be set. I'm in the 90% zone here and that's better than many or even most but I"m not hitting the road for the really good places.
Could but there's gonna be so many headed to those places anyway I'd just as well set things up, mix a drink and watch it happen.

Placed a pair of sunglasses over the lens - It's making a difference in what I'm seeing through the cam's viewscreen. ATM I can barely tell a difference but that will change before too long..... Not to mention the effects of the mixed drink are kicking in and it's all good here.

Getting dark here. 3/4 coverage. We can see it through cloud breaks. The kids dig it. Once in a life time event.

For those still waiting and no glasses can use a magnifying glass and focus the image on a white piece of paper, same principle we used with a transit if you didn't have a solar filter and needed to do a solar observation. Just don't pinpoint it or the black dot is going to be smoking.

We used my welding helmet. Worked like a charm. Me too. Not once in a lifetime BTW. In 7 years my town will be in the path of totality.

Me too. Not once in a lifetime BTW. In 7 years my town will be in the path of totality. Well - Well..... Guess where we'll all be in 7 years? At least you have that long to practice your B-B-Q'ing skills, I'll go ahead and say I like my steak well done.
