Are Promos 5ns mems worth trying over TCCD? I have a kit of TwinX CMX512-3200C2 V3.1 with them, haven't even tested them yet.

The OP has been updated. If I miss someone's submission, please bring to my attention. I'm out of the game as of right now. I had a nice little Samsung 840 decide to bite the big one. Not sure why or how. It's not available in bios on any Sata port. That makes me sad and a good reminder to not buy used solid state hard drives not that I can blame the seller. I purchased it some months back.... but never the less a bummer and I know better. 2 things I hate to buy used... Memory and SSDs. Nothing but constant bad luck. My time was in the 26 minute range as I climbed frequency. Had it around 2.7ghz and a little change. I have a PNY drive but it's not going to be up to any tasks because it was pulled from my wifes rig throwing errors. Back to spinners lol.

Go to the PNY webite and see if there is a bios update for that drive.

I should check the firmware. Thanks for the idea Pete.

One of my kingston SSD's was playing up and I flashed it and the other I own and have never had a problem with them since. Another thing SSD's seem to have trouble on older systems after they have been setup on a UEFi system I have had to wipe the partitions with a partitioning program before they will work properly again on older systems.

is that the same as mine pete ? where it wont boot if its plugged in on some boards, it makes it hang in bios unless you unplug it then it goes thru the boot process to go to windows , others it goes straight thru no probs, UD3R and VENUS are prime examples of it, all the earlier platforms seem to the problem

No your external needs to have the partitions removed with a partition program and then reinitalised and formatted and everything copied back onto it. I have your trouble after I have set my SSD's up with a UEFI bios e.g. Haswell, Skylake, Crosshair, Zen then try to use them in an older non UEFI Bios and they either hang or cant recognise the drive.
Edit: Actually your problem is not the same as Jon's but it is what I describe about it being formatted with a UEFI bios.

Alright, I will try the promos later then. This'll be my last sub for the time being so I wont be too much of a bother. On water this time, slowly but surely getting better. 3.14GHz only needed a slight bump up to 1.47V, 3.2 needs ~1.55V but mems are holding me back, they don't want to do past 265MHz even @ 3-4-4-7 using 2.9V to 3.2V. Could just be the board idk. DR4G00N / Opteron 180 @ 3.14GHz / Corsair XMS TCCD @ 262MHz / 23m 51.484s

I'll have to get it done by the weekend. Gonna get hot out. Talking a stretch of 90's here. High humidity kills my benching.

Same here with the wet stuff and looks like it's gonna hang around. Good and bad at the same time - Wet but not too hot. Between this and a drought I'll take this anytime.
