it has no hdd attached, but that shouldn't keep it from entering the bios right? i try to press dell or f1 but it just doesnt respond to that.

Welcome back. Board needs a battery. Any Abit board with uGuru needs 3v minimum or you'll get that screen or flakey problems.

Welcome back. Board needs a battery. Any Abit board with uGuru needs 3v minimum or you'll get that screen or flakey problems. it has no uguru as far as i know, it's an NF7-S 2.0, but i'll get a new battery and see if it boots. you're saying it will freeze like that without it?

Thanks a lot scotty, i'll show you guys pics of it when i'm finished, the panels are acrylic and toolless, magnet mounted. all the remaining panels are 2mm thick polished aluminum, and the frame is steel, i welded it together and unfortunetely came out a bit too wide, 5 milimeters of a gap was enough to make the panels fit kind of wonky onto it but well. that's a prototype so there will be mistakes here and there.

Most all of Abit's good overclocking boards have uGuru. It was their big selling feature.

PS/2 key board. You need to get into the bios to load defaults.

Nice. Usually it's the other way around. No USB but PS/2 works.

ahh good stuff, what made me think of the keyboard is i was playing with socket A yesterday and the night b4, DFI NF11 and an asus A7V 266E, asus didnt go but had to use a ps2 keyboard and mouse to get in to and use the bios to enable . disable stuff, also i had 1 ps2 plug from 1 once with a bent pin in the plug, dunno how it got bent but it did and straightened it and fixed it, so have a look there too, just a maybe, the dfi board booted once the night b4 into bios, went to load windows xp and then 4 LED lights , i changed 8 cpus, gpus, ram, pete was here and saw it and still 4 LED lights, he said theyre finicky sockets, if the cooler isnt mounted just right and coz the cpus run as hot as they do theyll blow up in no time, too finicky for me , so i put it away and put the ga p35t-dq6 on to play with, ill have a go at the dfi again when i got nothin better to do other than want to get really pissed off real quick
