yes, that's happened before, hurt like hell Oh I know....all too well. I'm a hands on fleet manager. I do the same thing you and Jon do every day. My career took a little jog when I changed companies. Not so much involved in the field activities any more.....except for snow time. It was for the better though. More money, more appreciation than where I was. Jon will be in my position soon. I have no doubt.

I'm lucky to be in a company large enough to move up in positions as well as the help towards education. Still turn a wrench a plenty. Always busy. Wrenching is the most part, but still paper works, parts inventory quick receiving, Hot Sheets for down tractors correlating with Dispatch and even head our new fueler into the right direction. Heavy lifting is now a thing of the past. I can retire most of all my heavy equipment tools and basically keep it to a 3/8 impact and hand tools. Electrical is a big thing. Always a truck with a wire problem.. lol.

Unfortunately, I'm the only guy with any heavy experience. So I get most of those. Wires?.........lol I have never seen a truck that didn't have a ripped out or rotted wire somewhere. Salt loves electrical connections.

It's in the works. Just haven't found the right guy yet. Everybody thinks they're a mechanic from NASA, and wants to be paid as such.

We have the same issue. Get young men straight out of Tech school thinking they know something, which in a book sense they really do.... but never touched anything that's been around 15 years. They all want 20$ or more right from school. It just doesn't work that way. I'd wrench for ya 10 years ago heavy duty. But those days are going behind me. I'm molding a nice crew right now and we've been doing great. Keeping up on PMs and repairs on top of some outside work along with that. Both my guys are pretty fresh and green. Brian has a couple years experience and Josh didn't even know what a tachometer was, but now I've got him really doing well with repairs on top of his PM work which he needed to learn. He's been doing so well that he hit employee of the month. To help boost his ego, I told him I was jealous and keep up the good work. And he's done just that. He's on the board for a second month in a row. Good kid. He's really coming along nicely and deserves the recommendation. When our Drivers need a quick fix, I always send Josh. It's paying off too. He's a happy camper
