Right so I have a question, where do I start helping out and benching? What's the things I must dooooo? I'm still trying to get the best oc out of my rig but Not much tweaking left to go. I'm defo looking at going custom water cooling even tho I don't have a clue what I'm doing but research is key I suppose,

Don't sweat it - We were all clueless about it at one time so you're just going through what we've already covered ourselves, you'll get the hang of it. Yes, research is a big part of figuring it out and these guys can and will help you to get things rolling. As for the benching part don't be in a hurry, takes time to really know what you're doing without grenading hardware all over the place and that gets expensive but quick. Learn before your stuff feels the burn. BTW enjoy your stay here and do drop in often.

Ha thanks for the reply, I wasn't meaning I wanted to start benching right now, I just meant where do I start? Like where do I start learning, what programs will I need, just where in general do I start lol.

First off if interested in just doing some benching you can take a look at this page for programs used for benching: hwbot.org/benchmarks/Obviously you'd want to start off light by doing some Super PI runs combined with WPrime and the like, mainly your processor related benchies. For GPU benching Aquamark, 3D Mark 2001 and 03 are good starting points for seeing how things work on that part of it. Start off Slow-N-E-Z and you'll begin to get an idea, ask questions in the appropriate parts of the forum and you'll get answers. Good luck!

what sort of Rig have you got there Jas? As Rodney said if you have got any Questions about overclocking it just start a thread in the appropriate section and ask away. You can download all the benchmarks you will need here. hwbot.org/benchmarks

That sounds Ok a Good reliable AMD rig.

That's a good gaming rig, don't do too much overclocking on it if it's your 24/7 rig. do little things like changing memory speeds and try to tighten the timings of the ram. that helps benches like SuperPi and PiFast.
also make sure you have a backup of your operating system (Full HDD/SSD image). sometimes Overclocking can corrupt your operating system, a full OS backup is recommended as sometimes the corruption may have you lose a system restore point (been there, done that).
We all started somewhere, and pending on the platform we're all starting over again as the bench tweaks are the same, but tricks of the socket and chipset are new things to learn.

If you get into benching Jase, you may want to consider using some older cheaper Hardware. Look into sA, s754, s939 and sAM2 Or older Intel equivalent.
Some hardwares I may have laying around to help get you started. Just let me know when you are ready and I'll get some stuff together and send it your way.

Speaking of "Cheap" hardware, you won't find these any cheaper than this: www.ebay.com/itm/Abit-NF7-V2-0-SOCKET-462-motherboard-working-pull-/262791759576Posted about it in the MB section but could be a great starter deal for Jase.

That's a nice find bones. NF7 was my 1st board too, i can't say it's easy to overclock these, but you can learn a lot. i still haven't figured it out too well. But yeah don't overclock your main rig too much Jase. try finding some older cheap boards and have a go with these. For start you should get yourself a decent psu, that you'll use for benching only. Then find some nice motherboards and memory, for each socket there are few boards that are the must-have. The NF7 is a desired socket 462 board, that would be a good investment

Just sayin.....
I'd go ahead and move on that board if possible because these normally go for about $60 or more plus shipping, you won't find another of that model for that cheap unless it's got a problem and even then they can bring more than the listed price. I've bought a few parts boards/boards that were for parts when sold that cost me more just get my hands on AND had to fix them if I could at all. I was lucky in that I was able to get nearly all running again and managed to build up a stash of Socket A boards of different models so I don't really need it myself - Good Socket A boards are getting harder to find now with demand and cost for them increasing as time goes by anyway.
You woudn't have to worry about using it for now - Just get your hands on it, stash it and at least you'll have it for a real bargain vs what they normally go for. BTW shipping charges of course won't vary too much anyway but even with the shipping cost it's a steal right now.
EDIT: It's gone now and I do hope it was one of you that snagged it. Somebody got a real steal of a deal with that one.

Vin Vinster you jinxed me but I should of listened, now sat here at 11:25pm trying to reset the pc which I think I'm windows 10 meens reinstall. Was watching a DVD on the pc on the big screen with the Mrs then she went to bed so I thought I'd pop on here but internet wouldn't load so thought I'd restart pc, then bam wouldn't load, kept saying trying to diagnose problem and then repair but nope wouldn't work ๐ Oh well live to learn haha
