It's that time for me again. A foot of snow due here starting tonight and going through Monday. Gonna be a little different this year at a different company. My area is much smaller. Should make it easier. Much more money though.

Most of the guys here already know what I do for a living. I live in the snow belt. We average 100+ inches a season here.

Vin Chiller will do slightly better. It likes the drier winter air. Condensation point gets much lower.

I live in NY between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. I'm an operations manager for a construction/landscaping company. In the winter, we do snow and ice management. It's about 70% of our annual income here.

one frustrating part of winter here we have become pussified... here they cancel schools with a chance of a snow storm... and 1" of snow they'll cancel school buses and we have to drive the kids in... only part of winter I don't like...
hell, remember when we were kids... nothing cancelled buses unless the plows were stuck...

@ Mr. Scott: Just be careful whenever you're out there plowing - But you already know this.
Luckily I don't have that worry 95% of the time and even then it's not bad - Just as Vin said people here too freakout whenever a snowflake hits the ground and everything shuts down. I know how to drive in snow so it doesn't bother me alot but the best way to drive in it period is not to. If the need occurs to do so I can do it and fortunate whenever it does things here are manageable to say the least.
Now in Travy's case that's another matter - Remember the snow canyon he posted up showing folks driving through it?

@ Mr. Scott: Just be careful whenever you're out there plowing - But you already know this. I will. My job at this place is way easier than the other one. I personally only have to take care of one office park, and that will be in a large machine. Then I have property inspections to do for my entire area. I will still fill in all the 'gaps' for my area though because that's just how I am. I like to be hands on more than just a super that points fingers.

I know snow and ice quite well, it hasn't touched us yet this year. We are just waiting to see what the lake effect snows will be like this year. We don't get smacked by it like you do. You just take good care of yourself my friend. I know how hard you guys get hit. You are always in my thoughts and prayers.

BTW, I see why this place jumped on me the way they did. I've spent the last 3 weeks in the shop prepping their crap for winter. They were much less prepared than I was led to believe.

Temps have dropped 30°F in the last 24 hours and we have a high wind advisory. It feels like it's 20°F outside cause of the high winds. We have a chance of snow but nothing to worry about..........yet. It's the cold that kicks my butt. I'm tuning the snow blower today just in case though.

Temp here was 68 degree's when I got up this morning. Right now it's 38 degree's with gropple coming down. Winds are starting to crank up too. Supposed to be 45 mph right off the lake. You know what that means.

Oh crap, I know that system very well. Can be very unpredictable. One foot of snow can turn into three in just a few hours depending on how conditions change.

Shady's missus has never seen snow I take it well neither have I. I just look at a video like Scotty posted then look off the balcony to the beach and think NAAAA what do I want to see that for. I will stick to ham, prawns and salad on the beach on Christmas day.

That sounds beautiful Pete. I envy you. It can be very pretty here for Christmas when that first snow falls but then after that it just becomes a nuisance. Especially when the temps drop below zero. It has gotten cold enough here to where wrenches can break off in your hands. I have had door handles break off on my truck it got so cold.
