I got these Ballistix Tracer DDR2 yesterday so gave them a quick test with Shane's EP45-UD3R. I used SPI 4m for a quick stability test I got 634Mhz = 1268DDR @5-5-5-15 and 565Mhz = 1130DDR @ 4-4-4-12 Not too shabby, not the worst set I got if I spent a bit more time with them I am sure I could get a bit more out of them. I am happy with them. I only got the bus up to 510 Brad if I had a Wolfie Duo in it I am sure it would be a lot higher Yorkies seem to lose stability above 500 bus unless cold being they are 2 separate dies on the one substrate and communicate over the FSB.

Great find on the RAM. About the same FSB bus I was getting on a P5Q WS, had a Wolfdale in the P5Q and couldn't take first place FSB for the board from a Yorkie?

Pete, a little tease isn't really good for anything but Realbench but not bad for 4x1, CPU is out of juice. Attachments:

Patriot ELs, D9s but not sure on the exact IC never had the HS off.

The EL's were mostly D9GMH's. That is good for 4x1. I have a set of those here too, but not as good as yours.

Realbench is a real bugger 600 is it, a little better with WP32 (610) and were headed for 600 with the Xeon and GB until I pulled two.
Shady could you show a Memset SS have a set of Ocz Nvidia chipset RAM and the secondary's are set pretty tight on auto don't have an Intel set.

My friend has a pair of Tracers. They go as crazy as Yours. Guess Yours is a fat-body too ! I'm going to find some old rev. D9 ddr2. Newer types can't hold 4-4-4 to such high freqs but it's an insane boost for Am2 for example. My Vitestas can run 1250 at 5-5-5 quite easily but struggling on 4-4-4 just above 1000 what comes very harmful for performance sometimes.

most ballistix have had their arses pretty much stretched, and thats a fact, same as any good clocking ram from any platform , thats why they have good scores from em , so the silicone lottery applies again, if youre lucky enough to find a set that hasnt been then sweet, youre on a good thing

One thing to remember not all ballistix go great from the factory. Not all D9 chips are created equal They do have chip binning plus there are a few different D9 chip models.

There was a chip rev. change. First rev goes much better on tighter timings. It's also half density chip than the second rev, and it's easily recognizable because it's fat body !! (D9DQM or smthg like that) Second rev is Single sided and contains the newer double dens. D9 chips. It's not bad ram of course but not as sick as first rev.

Good luck finding something decent I am still on the hunt for better. I've just bought a new kit ! A Super talent 2x1 for quite cheap. They can be better but it was a really cheap buying. Made the test on a P35 but I'm more curious how they perform with Am2 so another test will come soon. They are spi stable at 1000 mhz @ 4-4-3-8 with 2.2V bios (about 2.25 real voltage) and can be pushed till 1060 (4-4-4-10) with 2.4 volts. On looser timings they can be easily do 1200 mhz with 2.3 V !

i have 4 x 1gig of those same sticks alpi, mine were cheap too, supposed to be D9 chips in em to i think, i cant get a 1000 out of mine, maybe theyve been hammered in the past too much, but i havent given them 2.4 v either, 2.2v is the most ive give em so far, ill try them out again

Mine can do only that 1000 mhz with 2.2V. I could raise clocks only with higher voltages ! It seems they will outperform my Adata kit on cl4 with a bit but have to wait the Am2 test to see this for sure.

Try 16fd5 1066(2x1GB)...but I dont know how they will work on Gigabyte motherboards 775(i`m asus boy xD) They need more Vmem 2.5+ to run 4-4-4-12-22 but with good fans (~150cfm SanyoDenki) and near AC window unit they can handle even 2.7 on chest Best Regards

Yes, I made some fast test on Am2. It's capable to do spi32 with 1060 4-4-4-8 @ 2,3V but can't reach higher freqs with cl4 even with higher voltages. It's quite good, because my Adata's can't go as high (with cl4) but keep on looking for another D9's, maybe I can find even better ones ! ;ยด) It was a fast test only so maybe they can go higher with some fine tune. I will inform You if I have any new experiences !
