so my main rig that I use (thread here: warp9-systems.proboards.com/thread/1397/wifewillcutmynutzoff-third-plan-build-log)
Last week I was working from home (using my laptop) and my main rig was off. I heard an arcing sound coming from my 1500VA Cyberpower UPS and I recall my office lights quickly flickered... After it was done (about 3-4 seconds) I noticed my UPS was making a coil whine sound... being busy, I turned it off and left it.
later that night I turned on the UPS, checked voltage with a meter, unplugged it to make sure the UPS function still worked and everything seemed fine. Plug everything back in and everything works like it did...
Then I turn off my PC.. come back the next day and my PC won't turn on... I have an ASUS C8H. there is an illuminated "Start" button on the board and I realize that it isn't on. I check the UPS, everything seems fine and I have voltage... I turn the UPS off.. wait a sec and turn it back on. I get a "Start" light power it up and it seems fine...
I've stress tested the UPS. It appears to be OK.
I moved the PC power to the wall... I get the same thing... except yesterday... with no "Start" light... my PC looks like it's not plugged in the wall... pushing the on button, she flickers but then powers on...
I'm wondering if something happened to my EVGA PSU (1200W Platinum) that caused the issue with the UPS... But I'm worried that it caused an issue on the MB to behave like this on shutdown....
Oh, here's a good one.. from Windows, if I select "Restart".. everything if fine and it restarts... issue only happens on shutdown..
anyone ever have a similar issue before?
I have a 1300W gold PSU I can use to test the system... but this system is all hard tubed and weighs 70lbs... getting to the MB power socket at the top right, I'll have to break the loop to replace that power connection and I'm not terribly keen to move it.. lol... I'm looking for a few possible breadcrumbs before I venture down there
