Learned one thing: The NB1C NB cooler with its fan is not compatible with the SP97. They're too close together. Major bummer. But even running passive the NB1C is barely warm to the touch. Might swap it for my Enzotech forged pin sink instead.
I also can't find my SP97 mounting bolts. Or some other stuff. My random old parts supply bin is terribly organized.

SI97-A and a Vantec Tornado Leave it to you to have a heatsink that resembles an Oberth-class. I do have a Delta FFB0912HHE that'll do what the Tornado does. That thing is intolerable at any speed for today's quiet running PCs. I could go full nut and bust out my MCW6002A and water cool this, but these things don't push enough wattage for me to go through the trouble.

Dont show up for the Teams Cup with that Vantec Tornado Scotty it will never do. A lot of people under estimate the heat output of socket A especially running @ 2v

When I was active in socket A I had air coolers that could make a motherboard levitate. ROFLMAO

I prefer the AN7 to that board actually. Nice board though. Yeah, crazy prices out there. To me that's a $50.00 board. On a good day.
Edit: I sold one many years back that was a full retail package. I had purchased it new. I sold it for $150.00 with a processor in socket and ram too. It was in pristine condition.

Going rate for that board is around 100 bucks, just because of rarity now.

Going rate for that board is around 100 bucks, just because of rarity now. Sounds about right. I do agree it's a rarity to find one now and that does drive up demand and price, but much of what's in the listing is just hype to get a bite from a buyer. Rare BIOS? C'mon..... Still have the one I found in the box, in the same condition and paid way less for it. I even have all the goodies that was in the box including the little tote bag for taking a rig to a LanParty.

Yes, however that depends on the date of the chip. The "Superlock" date for Socket A is 0339 and anything newer is locked, any chips of or older than that date aren't "locked" but the tradeoff is older chips normally didn't clock too well vs newer dated ones. Any mobile Barton core chips later than the superlock date tend to be better than ones of it or older too, usually any dates from the year 2004 and onward are what to get by date. The newest 2003 chips are also good, I believe any dates after 0341 are worth looking at. For a desktop, see if you can find an XP-3200 that's newer than the superlock date, usually those are good chips but the best are from 2004 and newer. Info n be found on Fab51. I still have a LP Ultra B, I need to put a stock bios back on it though. Id love to find another XP 3200 400FSB unit.

My Antec SX830 SOHO tower isn't big enough for the Thermaltake Big Typhoon Cooler. I also have a Thermaltake Volcano 12. Once I have a place I can setup more than just 1 rig I will probably rebuild the AXP rig and see if I can get W7 to run with the NF2 AGP GART driver and the Sapphire X1950 Pro 512. I would of loved to run 4G of ram but its limited to 3G due to 3 slots only... i have heatsinks i can attach to the mobo for the vrms but they are kinda small lol. I'd like to make it my mod rig and then move to Ryzen on my main Rig and probably bless someone with the FX 8350 cpu with another 990FX motherboard as an upgrade over a 754 3200. I'd like to experiment with my Sabertooth R 2.0 by using a X2 555BE and have a R1.0 board as a bios donor lol.

CPUWorld forums, but usually only for processors. Other than that, it's Ebay. What are you looking for? I have extra stuff I almost never use. Shoot me a wish list in a message.

If you can find an XP-M chip that would be the best you can do. Unlocked regardless of date and they do clock well as a tendency.

From what I've had before in my experience the 333's are crap vs the 266 and 400 Bartons.
They need a high multiplier simply because they don't go up on the bus as well, the XP-M's are 266 chips and the one you want of course is a 400 chip. This is denoted by the last character of the chip's model name: C is for 266, D for 333 and E for 400, that's how you can tell what it is.
I'm suprised it won't do over 200 on the bus, even the dog XP-M I've got can go up on the bus a little (220FSB). You may have a BIOS issue causing that too, I'd try a different BIOS in the board before writing the one you've got off because I've had that happen before myself. If I were to even try 201 it would crash/lock up but a different BIOS took care of it. Mr. Scott can fix you up on the BIOS if he hasn't already.

Yeah its a modded bios back in the day, i think loggans world (loggan26.aquis) had a cd download for a slew of them. I may need to go back to stock bios. Here it is,idk whats on the mobo now, the rig has sat getting dust for a decade now... forums.overclockersclub.com/topic/101851-tmod-and-loggan26s-bios-flash-cd-utility-cds-nf432ati/

I have the latest tmod iso. I also have an extensive bios library that I've compiled over the last 20 or so years, modded and factory. What board are we talking about? I can select a good bios for you if you like.

I can select a good bios for you if you like. when the time comes to ressurrect my 462 Rig, It is a DFI LP NF2 Ultra B. It has Mushkin Redlines either 3200 or 4000 (can't remember) x1950 Pro AGP 512 by Sapphire. I need a wider case to mount the Typhoon with a good fan lol... I will probably start with a Stock bios since that worked on my Am3 rig
